CBS CONTRACT NEWS

Young & the Restless Victoria Rowell (Dru) is staying. She signed a new contract as well. And the rumors about Lauren Woodland (Brittany) leaving...all signs point to false.

Guiding Light EVACUATION

For a few hours last week, a hazardous-materials crew was called to Guiding Light's Manhattan studio and the studio was evacuated due to the release of toxic mercury.

During the taping of an emergency room scene, a blood pressure device broke apart after inadvertently being dropped on the floor. There were no immediate injuries reported and the CBS studio was closed with production halted, for 24 hours after the spill was cleaned up.

Mercury is a poisonous metal that can damage a person's brain, nervous system and kidneys. Exposure can cause tremors, irritability and memory loss. The cast and crew were examined and sent home.

By the following morning there wasn't any detectable levels of mercury in the air and taping resumed.
