Editor's Note

I want to apologize for the delay last week in receiving your Soaps Update. Zinester had some server problems last weekend and only received about half of their newsletters. Thankfully, they fixed it Monday, but still, I'm so sorry.

NEWS & RUMORS

News -- For the first time in 33 years, the Daytime Emmys are headed to Los Angeles next April 28. The decision was reached mutually by ABC and NATAS (the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences). The move isn't permanent, as CBS should produce the show in 2007 back in New York. The decision to air the awards in April instead of May is said to be because May is a sweeps month, and the awards haven't garnered great ratings over the past few years.

Rumors -- Constance Towers (Helena) is rumored to be close to signing a deal to return to General Hospital...Cynthia Preston (last seen as General Hospital's Faith) is reportedly up for the role of Guiding Light's Cassie...Adrienne Frantz (Amber, Bold & the Beautiful) has nixed the rumors she's going to Young & the Restless as Jennifer Foster...And with the recent announcements of both Kari Wuhrer (Reese) and Jennifer Brandford's (Carly) upcoming exits at General Hospital, the rumors continue to swirl that both Alicia Leigh Willis (Courtney) and Kelly Monaco (Sam) will be the next to leave. One source is quoted as saying of Monaco's (still alleged) exit, "it's now a question of when, not if." Stay tuned...

SPOTLIGHT ON...Steve Burton (Jason Morgan, General Hospital) www.steveburton.com

Steve plays Jason, the youngest son of Dr. Quartermaine. Though born into the Q family, a near-fatal accident caused Jason to lose his memory, creating Jason Morgan, the leader of an organized crime family. In May 1998, Steve won his first Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor.

Steve was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, raised in the Midwest, attended several different high schools before finally settling in California with his father. He graduated from Beverly Hills High where he was a member of the school's acclaimed Theatre 40.

He started his career in commercials. That led to a three-year run on the comedy Out of This World as Chris Fuller. He then made his Daytime debut as Harris Michaels on Days of Our Lives.

Steve juggles his successful daytime run on General Hospital and his career in feature films. He adores and excels at all sports, but prefers surfing above them all. Steve and wife Sheree welcomed their first child in September 2003. The trio live in Los Angeles.
