SPOTLIGHT ON...David Canary (Adam and Stuart Chandler, All My Children) www.davidcanary.com

Six time Emmy-winner (Outstanding Lead Actor in 1988, 1989, 1993, 1995 and 2001) has been doing double duty for All My Children since joining the cast in 1983 by playing the mercurial Adam and Adam's gentle twin, Stuart.

David attended the University of Cincinnati on a football scholarship, but played varsity basketball throughout his college career. He was a Pop Warner Scholastic All-American and graduated as a music major specializing in voice.

David made his Broadway debut in Jose Quintero's production of Great Day in the Morning, opposite Colleen Dewhurst. He answered a draft call for the U.S. Army and won the All Army Entertainment Contest for best popular singer. After his stint in the Army, he settled on the West coast and starred in The Fantasticks. TV and movie roles soon followed. Primetime roles include Bonanza (Candy) and Peyton Place (Russ Gehring). Or maybe you recognize him from Another World (Stephen Frame). Head to the video store and see if you can spot him in Hombre, The St. Valentine's Day Massacre, End of a Dark Street and In A Pig's Eye.

While with AMC, David has periodically returned to Broadway to star in Clothes for a Summer Hotel, The Father, The Fantasticks, The Happiest Girl in the World and Blood Moon. More recently, David's been in Sally's Gone, She Left Her Name, The Night of the Bear, Cobb and Orphans.

In regional and stock theater David has played Macbeth twice, in Macbeth at Actors Theater of Louisville and in The Beggar's Opera at Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. He has also appeared in Private Lives as Elyot, Man of La Mancha as Don Quixote, The Sea Gull as Trigorin, Sweeney Todd, Kismet and Clarence Darrow.

David was born in Elwood, Indiana and grew up in Massillon, Ohio, not far from the Football Hall of Fame in Canton.
