Six time Emmy-winner (Outstanding
Lead Actor in 1988, 1989, 1993, 1995 and 2001) has been doing double duty for All
My Children since joining the cast in 1983 by playing the mercurial Adam
and Adam's gentle twin, Stuart.
David attended the University of
Cincinnati on a football scholarship, but played varsity basketball throughout
his college career. He was a Pop Warner Scholastic All-American and graduated
as a music major specializing in voice.
David made his Broadway debut in Jose
Quintero's production of Great Day in the Morning, opposite Colleen
Dewhurst. He answered a draft call for the U.S. Army and won the All Army
Entertainment Contest for best popular singer. After his stint in the Army, he
settled on the West coast and starred in The Fantasticks. TV and movie
roles soon followed. Primetime roles include Bonanza (Candy) and Peyton
Place (Russ Gehring). Or maybe you recognize him from Another World
(Stephen Frame). Head to the video store and see if you can spot him in Hombre,
The St. Valentine's Day Massacre, End of a Dark Street and In
A Pig's Eye.
While with AMC, David has
periodically returned to Broadway to star in Clothes for a Summer Hotel,
The Father, The Fantasticks, The Happiest Girl in the World
and Blood Moon. More recently, David's been in Sally's Gone, She
Left Her Name, The Night of the Bear, Cobb and Orphans.
In regional and stock theater David
has played Macbeth twice, in Macbeth at Actors Theater of Louisville
and in The Beggar's Opera at Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. He has
also appeared in Private Lives as Elyot, Man of La Mancha as Don
Quixote, The Sea Gull as Trigorin, Sweeney Todd, Kismet
and Clarence Darrow.
David was born in Elwood, Indiana and
grew up in Massillon, Ohio, not far from the Football Hall of Fame in Canton.
