SPOTLIGHT ON...Michael Easton (John McBain, One
Life to Live) www.michaeleaston.com
After Michael's wildly popular portrayal of vampire
Caleb on Port Charles, he turned to One Life to Live to play the
secretive FBI agent John McBain in October 2003.
Born in Long Beach, California, Michael and his
Irish-born parents split his childhood between the U.S. and Ireland. In high
school, Michael began writing poetry. In college he majored in English and
history, with an emphasis on Greek history. Before graduating, he left school
to travel through Europe. He compiled his experiences into a book, Drift.
After his European travels, he returned to California
and enrolled in UCLA to study writing, directing and acting. He began writing
plays and performed in them until he got a role in Coldfire in 1990. In
1991, Michael appeared on the big screen in The Art of Dying and The
Killing Zone.
He then landed the role of Tanner Scofield on Days
of Our Lives. In 1992, he was honored by People magazine as one of
the 50 Most Beautiful People. Michael then starred in the TV movie Shadow
of a Stranger. In a Celine Dion-like move, he took an almost two year-long
break from show business.
In 1994, Michael returned to TV to star in VR5,
Dazzle and Diagnosis Murder. He wrote, directed, produced and
edited his award-winning independent film Daedalus Is Dead. The film
premiered at the British Short Film Festival in 1996 and won the award for
Best Dramatic Short at the Sea and Sky Festival in Canada. In 1995, Michael
starred in the Tamarind Theater (in L.A.) production of The Door. In
1996, he played identical twin brothers in Stephen J. Cannell's action
adventure series TWO. In 1997 he starred in 413 Hope Street.
In October of the same year he published a book of
poetry, Eighteen Straight Whiskeys. He guest-starred on Ally McBeal
and The Practice. Michael also starred in the TV movie Murder at
Devil's Creek and sold his screenplay based on the life of Montgomery
Clift. In 1998, he landed a role in the Toronto-based Showtime series Total
Recall 2070 in which he was nominated for a Gemini Award, Canada's big TV
awards. In 2000, he appeared in the miniseries The 70s and in 2001 he
sold another screenplay, Hunting Icarus to Neverland Films.
2001 also saw Michael land on Port Charles
playing twin brothers Caleb and Michael Morley. He left the show to star in Mutant
X the next year but returned to PC until the show's demise in
October 2003. To play One Life to Live's John McBain, Michael now lives
in New York.
