Ellen joined the show as policewoman
Margo in November 1989, after being asked by the late Doug Marland, former
head writer, himself. (Marland had created Ellen's former role of Maureen
Bauer on Guiding Light). Ellen starred on GL from 1982 to 1986.
Elsewhere on TV, she starred in the
TV movies, Mother's Day, Mothers, Daughters and Lovers with Helen
Shaver and Claude Atkings as well as Dancing with Danger with Cheryl
Ladd and Ed Marinaro.
Before daytime, Ellen had a
successful stage career, starring as Katrin in Mother Courage, Maggie
in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, May in How the Other Half Lives and
Clelia in The Nerd.
Ellen was born in Monticello, Iowa
and raised in Decorah, Iowa. She earned her B.A. and M.F.A. degrees in theater
from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. While working towards her bachelor's
degree, she spent a summer studying dramatic arts at the Webber Douglas
Academy in London.
Ellen currently lives in New York
City's Greenwich Village with her husband Doug Jeffrey and daughter Angela.
Her birthday is October 16.
