Palestinians denied access to the Dead Sea shore
Gush Shalom press release - "It should be noted that the Dead Sea is the
last sea shore which was hitherto open for bathing to West Bank
inhabitants." http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=19918
Gaza`s fish break the
blockade Yousef Alhelou - electronicintifada - Joy has filled the
hearts of hundreds of Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Strip this week as they
expressed their happiness over the most plentiful fishing season in 40 years.
The news is all the more sweet considering the Israeli navy’s restrictions on
fishing off of Gaza`s coast. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=19919
Four injured in weekly protest in Bil`in
against separation fence Meron Rappaport - Haaretz - Over the last
two years, the village of Bil`in has become the site of a weekly demonstration
protesting the erection of a security fence Israel claims is intended to keep
out terrorists, which Palestinians say is a land-grab. [A
land-grab it is: walls and fences are not even close to the `67 border.

Harel: Israel Defense Forces reservists were videotaped yesterday hitting and
punching Israeli protesters in the southern Hebron
Hills yesterday. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/857751.html
..and the next day: Battalion commander calls for
dismissal of officer who attacked Israeli activists Defense Minister Amir Peretz said
that the images apparently showed excessive and serious behavior on the part of
the soldiers, and the incident would be investigated and dealt with
accordingly http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/858188.html
Alternative Jerusalem Day - a
report Adam Keller - TOI/Kibush.co.il - Once, a distinctive slogan
of the radical left, now "Jerusalem - Capital of Two States" appeared on large
placards in Hebrew, Arabic and English behind the podium in the "Alternative
Jerusalem Day" ceremony organized by Peace Now. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=19909 ...and

City, Jerusalem - 17.5.07 http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=19926
The left starts debating
solutions Ilan Pappe & Uri Avnery - www.gush-shalom.org - Pappe: Even when the whole country was
swallowed, official Israel attempted to preserve also the idea of Zionist
democracy. That is how such formulas were born as `Territory in exchange for
Peace` and `Two States for Two Peoples`. // Avnery: Somebody told me: OK, it is not
realistic, but it is moral, and that is the place where I want to be. I say:
that is a luxury we cannot afford (...) a moral stand that is not realistic is
immoral. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=19921
Israeli Army map excludes 80% of
Palestinian village buildings Amin Abu Wardeh - IMEMC - Sadeq said
the village is on its way to be wiped out, not only from the map, but also from
existence, saying that according to the new map, “only five or six houses will
remain from the whole village especially that the army demanded him to remove
all the houses that are built outside the new boundaries set by the army.” [map
in the end shows Aqba village to be in the Jordan valley area which Israeli
authorities want to "Judaize" - ed.] http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=19917
Israelis plan more homes on occupied
land Conal Urquhart - The Guardian - While Israel says that it
supports the creation of a Palestinian state, its building projects - which
include walls, fences, bypasses and tunnels as well as settlements - restrict
the amount of land that would be available to the new state. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=19916
Israel partly at fault Amos
Oz - Ynet News - The time has come to openly admit that we are partly
responsible for the plight of the Palestinian refugees. (...) The State of
Israel is mature and strong enough to admit its partial guilt and to also accept
the inevitable conclusions: We would do well to take upon ourselves part of the
effort to settle these refugees outside of Israel`s future peace borders, in the
framework of future peace agreements. [Editor`s comment:
Amos Oz can be considered a barometer of Israeli liberalism - and its
limitations.] http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=19915
Flee, Freedom Fighter,
Flee Yonatan Pollak - Znet - Those who escape from the clutches of a
repressive regime, whether they are guerrilla fighters or political leaders,
deserve support and even admiration from dissidents for the sacrifice they made.
Exile, one must remember, is not an easy choice even for those who despise the
political regime in their country of birth. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=19913
In the enlightened world it`s called
robbery Benny Ziffer - Haaretz - The scientific community used to
mock Romanian archaeologists, who during the Ceausescu dictatorship were forced
to describe every find that fell into their hands as Romanian-Dacian, in order
to serve the national ideology that defined the Romanians as the direct
descendants of the Dacians, who fought valiantly against Emperor
Trajan. http://www.kibush.co.il/show_file.asp?num=19912
