 Five children in one week
Editorial - Haaretz - The automatic expressions of sorrow by government officials, and the argument that "the terrorists organizations send children deliberately to places where they become targets," does not suggest that anyone is attempting to learn the necessary lessons from the mistakes. This is all the more true when the targets are in areas housing civilians, and the risk is known in advance. Israel cannot behave like a terrorist organization that targets civilians, even when the shooting comes in response to an attack. After all, this is the main reason why Israel is encouraging the boycott of Hamas the world over.

Israeli settlers threaten land, injure non-violent activist
Dianne Roe - CPT Hebron - At about 9a.m. the Israeli peace activists arrived (...) Most of the settler youth then ran to the upper field to try to disrupt the B`nai Avraham solidarity harvest. Police and soldiers already on the scene moved in quickly whenever the settlers threatened. They were however unable [sic! ed.] to prevent the attack on Amro

`This is how they think of us`, said a 55 year-old woman that was left in the sun, `like trash.`
Yeela Raanan - RCUV - The unrecognized village of Twail Abu-Jarwal has been demolished entirely already nine times: this is the tenth. The bulldozers evacuated the area entirely: 20 tents, that were the homes of more than 100 people: men, women, elderly and children, were collected in to trucks, together with the belongings of the village people, and sent to the local dump. (...) If you can donate your old tent, or are willing to sponsor a tent, or know of a place in
Israel to buy good second hand military-style tents, please inform me: Yeela Raanan, RCUV. yallylivnat@gmail.com 054 7487005. [NB: IN THE END the screening times of THE BEDOUIN OF ISRAEL at the BBC World Service]

Nobel winners and European Parliament Members call for release of Imprisoned Hamas parliamentarians and ministers
Peace Lines - At the initiative of the French-based "Peace Lines" organization, 19 Nobel laureates and 15 Members of the European Parliament signed a petition calling for the immediate release of all the imprisoned Hamas Movement parliamentarians and ministers, specifically mentioning the imprisoned Education Minister, Dr Nasreddin Al Shaer. The signatories noted that "such acts [as the the arrerst of parliamentarians and ministers] can only make things worse, and fuel the atrociously vain, deadly spiral of aggression and retaliation." They also called for "an immediate and permanent end to all Qassam firing, and to all extra-judicial killings, as they so obviously feed each other with innocent lives of by-standers slain, maimed, and traumatized by countless hundreds".

UK Zionist Federation cancels Haaretz journalist `s scheduled appearance
Yaakov Lappin - Ynet - According to a UN report, Danny Rubinstein said that "Israel today was an apartheid State with four different Palestinian groups: those in Gaza, East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Israeli Palestinians, each of which had a different status." [Ed. comment: As usual the bearer of the bad news is beheaded.]

`To systematically share the Palestinian story with a US audience`
Strategic Assessments International, a not-for-profit private international organization working for the peaceful resolution of conflicts has embarked on "a focused and collaborative program be established to systematically share the Palestinian story with a US audience", which in its is view is vitally needed "regardless of the eventual territorial agreement Israelis and Palestinians make". The involvement of Israeli academics from
Tel Aviv University in the project was enough for extereme-right "Academia Monitor" to call upon donors to stop donations to that university.

Palestinian trade stifled by Israeli control-UNCTAD
Laura MacInnis - Reuters/www.alertnet.org - The UNCTAD report estimated that
Israel accounts for 92 percent of the value of Palestinian trade, neighbouring Jordan 2 percent and Egypt a fraction of one percent.  Proposed boycott of Israeli goods divides Ann Arbor co-op
Jo Mathis - Ann Arbor News - The People`s Food Co-op of Ann Arbor has never known such a storm, with some of its members urging a boycott of Israeli goods, standing at the front with a photograph of two Palestinian women sitting a pile of rubble that once was their home, while other members strongly oppose the boycott and make allegations of antisemtism and comparisons with Nazi Germany. The referendum among the co-op`s 6000 members is scheduled for September 7.

“We will replant these trees again”
Anne Paq - IMEMC Editorial-"While international media attention is focused on the internal Palestinian conflict, the Israeli authorities continue ...construction of the Wall and the expansion of colonies on Palestinian lands; there is no international protest. Construction of the Wall is going fast. Currently a big structure with concrete and steel has been erected on the field of the Abu Sway family, and the bulldozers are continuously working in the valley and the surrounding hills."

Palestinian Centre for Human Rights-"In the Gaza Strip, IOF killed 8 Palestinians, including 5 children, and a 9th died of wounds sustained two weeks ago during an incursion into the town of New Abasan in the southern Gaza Strip. On 29 August, 3 children were killed in Beit Hanoun by an

Border Control / `The best doctors are moving to the West`
Akiva Eldar interviewing the Palestinian Health Minister Fathi Abu Moghli - " The limitations on movement and the closures cause poverty in the territories to intensify. Poverty goes hand-in-hand with illness and illiteracy. Despite the fact that health and education are provided free, or almost free, too many children do not get to the clinics and the schools. Either they don`t have a permit to cross through the checkpoint, or they don`t have money for a bus ticket, or both. Poverty also leads to a decline in nutrition levels and the children are the first to pay the price."
