 AIC Settler Violence Report for August-September 2007
Ahmad Jaradat/Federica Battistelli - Alternative Information Center - This report starts from the burning by settlers of part of the Kayyali Mosque in the center of Hebron and goes on to a whole litany of violent acts, most of which got little of no reportage in the mainstream press [ed.].

 One killed, 5 wounded in Israeli air strike on Beit HanounIMEMC - Palestinian sources reported that Hassan Na`eem, 21, a member of the al-Qassam brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, was killed and five civilians wounded (...) The Israeli army claimed that the attack targeted a group of Palestinian resistance fighters who were preparing to fire home made shells at Israeli targets.

 Haniyeh warns against going to summit without Palestinian unity Ma`an - Haniyeh reiterated that Hamas is ready for dialogue with Fatah to discuss unity between the West Bank and Gaza, compliance with the Mecca and the Cairo Accords and the founding of a national unity government.

Taghreed El-Khodary/Isabel Kershner - New York Times - The devastating result of Israeli banks halting business transactions with Palestinian banks in Gaza goes back to the Oslo Agreement, which granted to the Palestinian Authority some of the attributes of sovereignty but specifically excluded the issuing of Palestinian money, forcing them to remain economically dependant on the Israeli Shekel [ed.].

 The European Parliament: End blockade of Gaza! Luisa Morgantini - In a resolution voted Oct. 11, The European Parliament called on Israeli Government to lift the blockade of the Gaza Strip and to fulfill its international obligations under the Geneva Conventions to guarantee the flow of humanitarian aid, humanitarian assistance and essential services, such as electricity and fuel.

Tovah Lazaroff - Jerusalem Post - "We tell [Abbas] he has to do what he thinks is right", said Christina Gallach, spokeswoman for EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana. (...) Meanwhile, a bipartisan group of former senior US officials and congressmen pushed for dialogue with Hamas ahead of the Annapolis peace conference.

 PA minister: Israel wants to destroy Fayyad gov`t
Ali Waked - Ynet - "The Israeli government is a lying government that is out to destroy the Fayyad government and the peace process," said Ashraf al-Ajarmi, PA minister of prisoner affairs. The minister said this in response to the Internal Security Ministry and Israel Prison Service`s decision to prohibit the delivery of sweets to Palestinian prisoners for the Muslim holiday of Eid il-Fitr.

 Concert in Jericho called off
Associated Press - The concert in Jericho, scheduled by "One Voice" for October 18, has been called off, due to what organizer Daniel Lubetzky called "Threats by extremist ideologists", which might or might not refer to the calls by Palestinian groups to boycott the event as "normalization". AP dispatch is followed by the online debate between Daniel Lubetzky on the one hand and PACBI and ISM, who respectively initiated and promoted the boycott [ed].
