LET'S TALK BUSINESS
Promoting Your Holiday Contest
The Holiday season is almost here and all online business owners
agree that contests are a great way for Holiday promotions. But how
you make people know about your contest and get them to participate
is where many webmasters find difficulty. Here are tips on how you
can effectively promote your contest and get it seen all over the
internet:
1. Announce your contest on your website index page, major
traffic pages or even All pages of your website if you can manage
that with ease. The point here is that if a visitor visits a certain
page of your website through a link from a search engine or from
another website, he/she should not leave the website without any
clue of the contest being held.
2. Announce your contest to your lists, newsletters or ezines, if
you have any.
3. Announce your contests on networking forums and newsgroups in
appropriate places. Please take care not to spam.
4. Update your email signature and add a one-line description and
a link to your contest page.
5. Post your contest details on the following contest sites. You
can post on all these sites for free, but for just a few more
dollars, you can consider a paid listing which will multiply the
visibility of your ad and thus, the traffic generated.

Pumpkin and Cheese Bake
Ingredients:
450g new potatoes halved
450g pumpkin peeled and thinly sliced
1 large onion about
175g finely sliced
salt and freshly ground black pepper
125g thinly sliced smoked ham
225g buttery cheese eg taleggio gruyere or fontina thinly sliced
300ml creme fraiche
baguette and green salad to serve (optional)
Method:
Boil the potatoes pumpkin and onion together in a little salted
water in a shallow flameproof casserole on the boiling plate for 3
to 4 minutes. Drain off all the liquid and roughly mix in the ham
and cheese.
Beat a little cold water into the creme fraiche to give a thick
pouring consistency.
Season with pepper then pour over vegetables. Place the casserole on
the simmering plate and bring to the boil.
Transfer to the roasting oven and cook uncovered on the grid
shelf on the second runners for 40 minutes or until bubbling and
golden.
Two or three times during the cooking time stir the crust that
forms on top into the dish to add to the flavour. To check the dish
is cooked press the tip of a knife into the centre of a potato which
should be tender. Serve with a baguette and green salad if wished.
This recipe con be adapted to make a great vegetarian dish. Omit the
ham and use an extra 125g of potatoes or pumpkin. Sweet potatoes and
celeriac are delicious too simply peel and slice the sweet potato
thinly and the celeriac a little thicker and boil with the potatoes
and pumpkin. Few will be able to resist this dish of potatoes
pumpkin and cheese baked in deliciously rich creme fraiche. With its
crisp golden edges and melting sauce its perfect for halloween.

WEDDINGS
Decorating for Fall Weddings
Centerpieces: Speaking of centerpieces, there are many
different fall themed choices you can use to beautify your wedding
table. Try decorative gourds in attractive baskets adorned with
shimmery ribbon. Or, go for a crystal bowl filled with water and
floating candles in autumn hued colors. Miniature cornucopias
filled with wax fruit and silk flowers are also stunning
centerpieces for any wedding table. And if you want something
especially creative, why not try filling hollowed out pumpkins
with fall floral arrangements? Another way to use hollow pumpkins
and gourds is as candleholders. For a little extra interest, spray
paint the gourds with gold paint before placing a candle inside.
Food Presentation: The fall theme can carry from the
decorations to the menu. Serve soup in hollow pie pumpkins, or
present each guest with a miniature cornucopia with fresh fruit
inside. Adorn your wedding cake with faux fall leaves or frosted
fall fruit like deep purple grapes. For your main dinner course,
try something hearty that makes use of fall vegetables. And don't
forget pumpkin pie!

FALL FASHION
Fall Fashion Trends for the Workplace and Beyond
(ARA) – Kids going back to school and a chill in the morning
air signal it’s time to start thinking about your fall wardrobe.
Now is the time to add a few trendy pieces to your closet as well
as restock the basics.
Whether your office attire is “work casual” or more traditional,
the good news is that today’s work wardrobes allow women to
express their individuality. The padded-shoulder power suit is a
thing of the past. Looking professional doesn’t mean wearing only
navy blue pinstripes.
Here are some of this season’s hottest looks that will take you
not only to work, but also to soccer practice and a night on the
town:
* The perfect white blouse – No wardrobe should be without this
staple that can go with everything from a business suit to blue
jeans. This fall, style is all in the details. “Look for blouses
that have that special something: a side tie, a great ruffle or
rouching,” says Melinda Anderson of ShopNBC. Shoppers at the
television and online retailer will find plenty of beautiful
Finley blouses to choose from to fill this need in their wardrobe.
* The easy-to-wear jacket – On busy mornings, a great jacket or
blazer makes it easy to look put together even in the face of a
chaotic day. “The right jacket makes an outfit look instantly
pulled together,” says Vanessa Keller. Texture, color and details
are key this year. You’ll see jackets and blazers in fabrics
ranging from leather and suede to velvet. Choose a jacket that
coordinates with items already in your wardrobe. For example, if
you wear a lot of black, a beautiful blue or red leather blazer
will make the black pop. Keller also reports that brown is coming
on strong as a new neutral, accented with reds, purples and
olives. The DiVita collection of jackets as well as pieces from
the Pamela McCoy line offer a variety of stylish options.
* Sweater dressing – Practical, comfortable and more stylish than
ever, knits are back in a big way this season. “A few basic knit
pieces can get women through just about any occasion,” says
Keller. A knit pant, skirt and cardigan offer many wardrobe
options and combinations. Pamela McCoy really shines here, with
knitwear featuring retro couture lines combined with modern
relevance. Add an embellished cardigan or sweater coat to your
knit ensemble and you can go from the office to a dinner party
with ease. Both the Pamela McCoy and Michael Simon lines include
pieces that are set apart with trims like sequins and crystals.
* The perfect handbag – Bags have become a fashion statement, not
just a way to carry your wallet and cell phone. For fall, handbags
come in all sizes, from oversized totes for daytime to small but
stunning bracelet bags for evening. Look for bags with lots of
texture, pops of color and trims like studs, grommets and even
chains. Metallics and faux crocodile are still in vogue; other
trends for fall include soft leather and woven leather. The Find,
Sharon Goie and Charlie Lapson all bring fashion forward style to
handbags this season at ShopNBC.
