Summer Hair Care Tips

Sun does a lot of damage to your hair and some of it may be irreparable. Take care of your hair by following these tips and save them from sun damage this summer.

1. Use SPF Shampoos to protect your hair from the sun. Direct sunlight will damage your hair. In addition, use sunscreen products made for hair.

2. Wear hats to protect your hair from direct sunlight. Trendy sun hats and scarves are available on all leading stores so that you don’t need to sacrifice fashion.

3. If you regularly blow dry or curl your hair, try to give your hair a relaxing break during summer time. Let them dry regularly and use natural methods like braiding to achieve curls.

4. Go for deep conditioning treatments as much as possible to prevent hair from getting dry and frizzy. Use leave in conditioners when out in the sun.

5. Do an ‘at home’ hot towel treatment. Massage warm oil into your hair at night and sleep through the night with it. In the morning, dampen a clean towel in hot water and wrap over your head. Continue 4 or 5 times.

6. Choose hairstyles that hide away your frizzy hair from the heat. Try buns, braids or at least ponytails to keep hair ends safe inside. Letting air loose will end up making them more dry and brittle.

Prevention of sun damage is the best way to take care of your hair during summer. If for any reason your hair does get damaged, start your damage repair work after summer is over by following healthy hair habits and diets.

Come Fourth of July and it’s time to play hostess and invite friends and neighbors for a Patriotic party. If you are looking for themes and ideas for a memorable 4th of July party, then don’t start planning till you have read all our ideas:

1. Snap, Crackle and Pop Fourth of July Party

This will make for a fun kids party. Start with invitations that make a popping sound as you open them to set the mood for the party. For party crafts and activities, choose from making Alka Seltzer Rockets, popping packing bubbles, non-fire popping fireworks etc.

2. Uncle Sam Party
For this party, the invitations will no doubt feature Uncle Sam pictures. Even the party activities can include dressing up like Uncle Sam and making Yankee Doodle Hats.

3. Fourth of July Picnic

Get wild with a picnic party. Organize a bike parade for kids and have outdoor games and races for kids. Make sure to use paper tablecloths, napkins and other decorations to avoid the hassle of cleaning up after the party.

4. Fourth of July Pool Party

If you have your own pool, invite family and friends for a pool party. Keep decorations red, white and blue and keep the menu to a simple barbecue or picnic fare. Don’t forget the citronella candles to keep away the mosquitoes. Swimming races will generate enough fun for the day.

5. Fourth of July Beach Bash

Host a beach bash either on a nearby beach or transform your backyard into a beach with beach-themed items. The dress code for the party can be swimwear or Hawaiian attire. Serve refreshing drinks and appetizers to go with them. Beach themed favors can be made at home easily or purchased from a store at a low price.

DIY Ideas for Budget Weddings

For the bride who is planning her wedding on a budget, do-it-yourself is a great option. By putting in some efforts before the wedding, you can not only save a lot of wedding expenses, but also give your wedding a personal touch which most weddings lack.

That said, it is important to know which things can be taken up DIY and which ones should be left to the pros. Here are ideas for things you make yourself for your wedding:

1. Make your own veil. With simple instructions found on the internet and on our website, you can easily make your own veil to wear on your wedding day.

2. Make your own floral decorations. Look for ideas on pew and wall decor and make your own decorations. If you are using silk flowers, you can make them well ahead of your wedding and store.

3. Make your own centerpieces. Floral or not, centerpieces can be assembled easily. Arrange flowers or float candles, simple and pretty wedding table centerpieces can be made easily at home with the help of your family and friends.

4. Make the Wedding Bouquets. This will include your own bouquet as well as the bridesmaids’ bouquets. Arrange stems of flowers with greenery and tie the stems together and wrap the ends with cellophane.

5. Make the Flower Girl's basket. But an inexpensive plastic or wicker basket and hot glue silk flowers to the edges to make a lovely flower girl's basket.

6. If you are having a small wedding without the traditional sit-down dinner, enlist some family members who are good at cooking to make appetizers for the party.

7. Look around in your family for someone who has a talent for making cakes and get your Wedding cake done for much less.

8. Make the ring-bearer's pillow yourself. A thin pillow decorated with ribbons, lace and rosettes will make a pretty pillow to use for the ring-bearer.

9. Print out or make your own wedding stationery like the programs, menu cards, place cards and even invites etc. You could use the help of someone in your family who is good with paper crafting.

10. Consider making your own favors. From little crocheted items to chocolates wrapped in organza bags to homemade candles and cookies, there are a number of ideas for homemade favors. You are sure to save a large chunk of money here.
