BOOK CLUB
The Da Vinci Code
The book that is creating waves
worldwide is our choice for the month at the DCW Book Club.
The Plot: 'The Da Vinci' code exposes you to a world full of conspiracies and hidden secrets and symbols, all waiting to be unearthed. When Robert Langdon, professor of symbology and a living dictionary about the church, pagans, goddess worship and religious practices (first introduced by Dan Brown in Angels and Demons) comes to know about the murder of Jacques Sauni??re, the curator of the Louvre, whom he was supposed to meet earlier that day (He did not turn up...obviously!), little did he know that he was about to get involved in a search for documents of unimaginable power and importance. Along with Sauni??re's granddaughter, Sophie, who is also a cryptologist, he embarks on a quest for truth. The truth, of course, is well concealed within
cryptograms, secret codes, symbolic codes, puzzles, Da Vinci's art - and the Police and Opus Dei, a catholic group bent on destroying the evidence of the 'truth' they are trying to unearth and save, are hot on trail.

LET'S TALK
BUSINESS
Offline Marketing
Ideas
Here are a lot of
ideas that I teach my consultants about when they join my team.
They refer to doing offline & online local marketing and
advertising.
#1) Read the Engagements and Wedding Announcements in the paper,
try to match up the names and locations with the phone book or go
to the below website that I will post at the bottom of this post.
I offer those who are engaged the FREE Tupperware Online Bridal
Registry or a Tupperware Bridal Shower Home Party or a Tupperware
Book Party so they can get new Tupperware!
#2) Check out the ads for those who offer daycare in their homes.
A lot of home daycare providers are interested in Fundraisers!
Tupperware has a fundraising program where groups earn 50% cash! I
also offer them the Tupperware Party so that they can earn FREE
Tupperware Toys, Sipper Cups, Tupperware Kiddie Dishes etc for the
daycare!
#3) Local Job Fairs! Set up a table with info along with catalogs
and business cards! I get a lot of good leads for both recruiting
and party hostesses at Job Fairs!
#4) Contact your Local Temp Agencies and send them a big packet of
info about the Business Opportunity that you offer! A lot of Temp
Workers are also looking for home businesses to get into!
#5) Contact Your Local Colleges and see if you can set up a table
or booth with info about your business opportunity. College kids
love WAH businesses to help them earn some $$$ while going to
school!
#6) Hang up fliers in your community where people get together.
For example: laundromats, grocery store memo boards, church memo
boards, community centers, Gyms, YMCA and so forth.
#7) Donate to Charity!
#8) Sponsor Local Contests! i.e. radio stations, newspapers, TV
stations, magazines, any local agency that sponsor contests! Don't
forget bingo halls and schools too!
#9) Look for local ONLINE classified Ads...I run 2 online low cost
paid advertising on 2 different LOCAL classified ad websites! I
pay $8.00 a month for one and $10 a month for the other! I get
around 25 requests every month from each....and about 5 new
consultants from each on the average!
#10) Where a pin on you at all times that says "Ask me about
my Tupperware Opportunity" or whatever business you are with.
#11) Staple lollipops to your business cards! When out in public
and someone asks you about your opportunity, pull out your cards
and give them one!
#12) Get a vinyl cling made for your car that says something about
your business and add it to your car window or add a bumper
sticker.
#13) Take out ads or do advertising in College Year Books, High
School Year Books, High School or College Athletic Program Books,
High School or College PLAY Program books etc! All of them have
advertisers listed in the back! You can either advertise your
business opportunity, or your products or make a combo ad!
This is the website I use to get some of my local addresses...you
can type in a street name and it will pop up addresses on that
street for you!

FINANCE
Money Saving Tips
These are my "guidelines" to run our household on a
budget..
*Plan menus - write a grocery list - shop only the products on the
list
RESULT: you won't buy this and that and end up with a bunch of
things. You can plan what you buy and plan what you consume and plan
your BUDGET!
*Give up going out
(ok ok -- it is fun to eat out, to go to movies etc .. but if you're
on a budget you *will* find something else - AS MUCH fun... how
about a family picnic in the park??? Enjoy nature at the same time.
Your imagination is the limit...
*Buy clothes (or some of them) from second hand shops - swap baby
clothes with your friends
(don't tell me that second hand is bad quality! Sometimes you can
find *almost* new clothes - someone got bored and wanted to get rid
of it.. and... tadaa, it fits you! And baby clothes - they get small
so quickly that they will barely be used..)

GARDENING
Colorful Cure for the Winter
Blahs
Coypright 2003 Jennifer Tidwell
By now the winter blahs have set in and everyone in your family is
probably itching to get outside, or do something besides play
board (bored!) games and assemble jigsaw puzzles. If you have
snowy or cold, rainy winters, being cooped up inside with the kids
for days on end can make even the most sane person want to run
away from home. Even if you don't have children, there's only so
much you can do indoors to stay busy.
One easy way to combat the blahs and blues is to force bulbs to
flower indoors during the winter. Some of the most popular are
paperwhites, amaryllis, daffodils, hyacinth and tulips. They add a
burst of color and fragrance to your home, as if spring has
arrived early.
The great thing about planting bulbs is that even a child as young
as 1 can help with some assistance from Mom or Dad.
What you'll need:
Flower bulbs of your choice (I recommend paperwhites or amaryllis)
Potting Soil
Fairly large flower pot or container of your choice
Rocks or colored glass marbles
I've started bulbs in nothing more than a glass vase with colored
marbles and water. They make a very striking display and the
visible roots are a source of entertainment as they grow and snake
their way around the interior of the vase. As long as the roots
have some growing room, it should be ok. Check the bulb's depth
requirements to determine how much room is needed.
Pre-chilled bulbs shouldn't be hard to find this time of year, and
will be marked "Ideal for Indoor Forcing." Paperwhites
and amaryllis don't need to be chilled and will bloom in a few
weeks, and I recommend them for this project. Otherwise, your
bulbs will need a chilling period of 12-17 weeks before they will
bloom.
Be sure and lay out some newspaper or an old sheet before you
start. Anywhere you have kids and dirt, there's bound to be some
mess. Place about two inches of loose rocks in the bottom of your
pot for drainage. Fill your pot about 3/4 full with soil, or high
enough to plant the top of the bulbs evenly with the top of the
pot. Drop in your bulbs root side down/pointed side up. As a rule
of thumb, the root side will be rounded or slightly flattened,
sometimes with small rootlets already showing. Cover the bulbs
with soil, with just the tips of the bulbs showing. Water
thoroughly.
You can put some more loose stones on top of the soil for a
decorative effect, or leave it bare. Place them in a location that
receives filtered light for most of the day and turn the pots once
a week to keep the stems straight. If the pot has a drainage hole,
be sure and place a tray or dish underneath to catch water. Enjoy
your flowers!
