LET'S TALK
BUSINESS
BUSINESS CARDS
It's better to create a business card that is original, colorful
and creative ??” one that the prospect will remember ??” than a
business card that looks the same as any other business card. Here
are some guidelines to follow before you invest in business cards:
??? Avoid business cards that you can custom print out of your
printer. These types of business cards feel cheap ??” and look it.
You'll probably save some pocket change on the custom print
business cards, but they'll also cause you to lose business.
??? Use at least two colors in your business card or use black ink
on a colored paper or colored ink on a white paper. The basic and
most popular business card is printed with black ink on white
paper. Avoid buying business cards that look like everybody
else's. Make your business cards stand out, whether it be with a
different color, a unique design, or with different fonts.
??? Your business card is like a mini-billboard of advertisement.
Besides including the particulars (your name and address, etc.),
also add a selling point, such as "Customer Satisfaction
Guaranteed!" or "FREE Consultation ??” Call Me Any
Time!" or "I work within your budget and I'm
deadline-friendly!" Another tip is to add a testimonial from
a past client who has been satisfied with your services.
??? You should include a title after your name. What is your
title? Communications Consultant? Copywriter? Marketing
Specialist? PR Pro? Sr. Account Executive? You should avoid using
Freelance Writer as your title if you're a commercial freelance
writer ??” according to some writers, using this title is not as
professional or worthy as using the other titles.
??? Consider printing information on the back of your business
card or on the inside if the business card opens up. You can
include additional information such as what writing services you
offer and which clients you've assisted in the past.
You can get some creative ideas on business cards by visiting your
local printer. Your printer will have a giant portfolio of
business cards that you can choose and pick through. Remember that
your business card should match your letterhead and other business
stationary.
RECIPES
Blackberry Pie
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons cold water
2/3 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 cups fresh blackberries
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2. Mix together 2 cups flour and salt in a medium mixing bowl. Make a well in the center, pour in the oil and water and stir together.
3. Separate the dough into two balls, using 3/4 of the dough for the first ball and 1/4 of the dough for the second. Place a sheet of wax paper over the bigger ball of dough, and roll it out; the dough can be crumbly, and the wax paper will help keep the dough in one large piece. Line an 8 inch pie pan with dough. Roll out the small ball of dough similarly, and set aside.
4. In a small bowl, mix together sugar, 1/4 cup flour, and cinnamon. Place berries in a large bowl, and sprinkle sugar mixture over the berries. Gently stir to coat. Spread filling into the dough lined pie pan. Cover with top crust, and pinch the crusts together. Poke holes in the top to allow steam to escape during baking. Line the edges of the crust with tin foil to prevent burning.
5. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes, or until crust is lightly browned and filling is hot and bubbly.
CRAFTS
KOOL AID TIE DYED T-SHIRTS
T-shirt
Unsweetened Kool-Aid
Vinegar
Small plastic bowls
Plastic gloves
Rubber bands
NOTE: Use different flavors/colors of Kool-Aid?®.
For every color you wish to use, put 1 package Kool-Aid?® and 1 ounce of vinegar in individual plastic
bowls. Mix until Kool-Aid?® is dissolved. Using rubber bands, pull and twist T-shirt into different shapes.
Dip rubber-banded ends in bowls (make sure you wear gloves or your hands will stain). To set colors, iron
on medium-high using an ironing cloth between shirt and iron. Let set for 24 hours before washing. To be
safe, wash separately the first time. Launder T-shirt as usual and it's ready to wear.
NOTE: Don't put softener on the T-shirt if you pre-wash it as the dye will not take.

HOUSEHOLD CLEANING TIPS
1) Use Regular Foaming Shaving
Cream on your bathroom mirrors to prevent them from fogging up!
This really works! All I do is put it onto a soft terry cloth wash
cloth and then rub it across my mirrors, it does NOT streak and
lets them shiney clean and my mirrors will NOT fog up during a
shower or a bath. I reapply once a month! I use the cheapo shaving
cream like Barbisol (make sure its a foaming one and a cheap one).
I save the good Kiss My Face Shaving Gel for shaving my legs LOL.
You can also use foaming shave cream to polish up your facet, sink
knobs, tub facet & drain, shower head etc.
2) to Freshen up your garbage disposal cut a lemon in half. Throw
it into the garbage disposal and run cold water for 3 minutes.
Then turn off the water and let the lemon half sit in there for
another 5-10 minutes. Then turn on the cold water and run your
garbage disposal! This not only kills odors but its a natural
disinfectant too!
3) instead of using expensive paper towels to clean your windows
and mirrors, Recycle your daily newspaper! I use a spray bottle
with 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 tap water. I spritz my windows and
mirrors with it and then use the newspaper to dry and polish them!
Then toss in the trash or recycle bin! You will never have to buy
glass cleaner or paper towels again!
4) Natural Toilet Bowl Cleaner: I pour 1/2 cup of vinegar into my
toilet tank once a week. I make sure NO ONE uses that toilet for
at least 30 minutes. I then add approx. 1/4 cup to the toilet bowl
and let that sit for a few minutes too. If need you can use a
toilet brush to remove tough stains. Then flush! You have
naturally disinfected the toilet and refreshed it too! Kills
odors!
5) I also make my own fabric softener dryer sheets. I buy cheapo
Liquid Fabric Softener and I purchase a pack of 12 terry cloth
cheapo wash cloths. I poured the fabric softener into a spray
bottle. 1/2 fabric softener and 1/2 tap water. Next, spritz the
wash cloth lightly with the solution and toss into the dryer! Make
sure you use CLEAR liquid fabric softener!
