Editor's Note

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. I had a lovely one as it was a double celebration time for me. It was my birthday yesterday! And it felt wonderful to receive so many wishes in spite of the busy Easter schedule. And a peek at the Message Forums tells me that everyone's enjoyed their day with Egg Hunts and Chocolate.

Our 'Meet the Author' session on the 10th was a winner! Christine Louise Hohlbaum, author of ???Diary of a Mother: Parenting Stories and Other Stuff" graced the occasion with her presence. Her answers provided us with a great insight into the making of a top selling book. The event was a great success due to the joint efforts of DCW Book Club Moderator Frances Stewart of http://www.anybackpage.com, Armande Borghardt of http://www.worldwebpics.com/ and Gloria McDonald of http://www.gloriasdesigncorner.com/.

In attendance were some of our DCW Book Club members as well as some very interesting writers of Christine??™s acquaintance. Donna, Dawn, and Martha had quite a few tips for us also (former Journalist Martha Jette, whose new book is to be released April 19). Thank You Christine and everyone who came and contributed to the success of the event.

For those who missed it, here is what you can still get in on:

Special DCW bookplates are available that Christine has agreed to autograph for us. The URL for your choice is at http://www.mccoll-name.com/dcw_bookplates.htm Please choose the bookplate that you would like to have autographed and email your choice along with your requested autograph to fancymccoll@peoplepc.com. If no special request is made, we will choose a bookplate for you and it will be signed "Best Wishes" and the author's signature.

LET'S TALK BUSINESS

How to get free traffic by giving away a free ebook
By Patric Chan 2004 Copy Right.

Dear Friend,

This may come as a surprise. Or not. Depending on how much knowledge and experience you have with internet marketing.

I'm sharing this tip with you because I have proof of it's success. This strategy has been used for ages by internet marketers. The strategy is to offer freebies especially a free ebook to get traffic to your site. I've been enjoying a healthy amount of traffic each day with this strategy.

Here's an idea that I use. I have another webpage that focuses on self improvement topics at http://www.esuccessmastery.com

Feel free to subscribe to that too if you have a desire to improve your life through self improvement.

Ok. Let's go back to the strategy. I offer a free ebook, Success Quotes from the webpage, essuccessmastery.com. To date, I've received thousands of downloads for the ebook and generated traffic to esuccessmastery.com from the link in that ebook.

Another successful free ebook that I've completed recently is 'Best Articles Ever Written' that I've worked on with 11 other successful marketers like Willie Crawford, Steve Shaw, Harvey Segal, John Delavera and so on. Visit http://www.mymarketingtactics.com/bestarticles

What's weird is, there are so many people using this strategy but have failed to achieve any successful results. Why?

Here are 5 tips in order for you to achieve successful 'viral
marketing' by offering a free ebook:

1.Your ebook MUST be valuable

Here's a rule of thumb. Your ebook MUST have value to the readers. That means there MUST be something they can learn or gain from it. Common sense will tell you, if the book is full of garbage, what makes them want to share it with their friends?

Preferably, before you give away the book, think of this first - If you sell it for any price, will there be a buyer? If your answer is yes, you have a winner. :)

2. It MUST not be boring

This sounds almost the same as first tip. But it's different. Sounds ironic right? Lol

Imagine this. It's free. Most likely, it's not appreciated as much as a paid book. So, the way you write the ebook and compile it, it MUST have a 'flow' to make it interesting to read or it'll end up in the recycle bin.

3. Get other people to help by distributing it

If you want it to spread fast, you need other guys with big lists to help you promote your free ebook. If you do it by yourself, it's going to take a heck of a long period of time to spread it unless you are like #1 in search engine ranking. The best place to get the list of people who have existing subscribers. You can use ezine directories.

4. There should not be too many affiliate links

If your links sincerely want to give the readers convenience to find more information or resources, that will be ok. But don't promote everything under the sun. Too many affiliate links will turn off any readers as it will look obvious you are trying to earn back end sales from affiliate programs. Nobody likes to be sold to. :)

5. Make your book brandable

I don't think there is such word as brandable in the dictionary. But brandable to my understanding means that the reader can brand your ebook with their own name, url or affiliate link in that ebook. THIS TIP IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. If you download my ebook above, you'll see that I offer them the ability to brand it with their own link. It just make sense right?

People will like to give away your ebook if they can also get free traffic or back end sales.

You might already be giving away a free ebook at this moment. But apply those 5 tips above, and your ebook will spread like wildfire.

If you don't have a free ebook to give away, what are you waiting for?

Warmest regards,

Patric Chan

FOOD

Cooking Tips

Seal natural juice into foods by wrapping them in foil before cooking. Or try wrapping foods in edible pouches made of steamed lettuce or cabbage leaves.

Cook vegetables just long enough to make them tender crisp. Overcooked vegetables lose both flavor and important nutrients.

Clean mushrooms as you use them by wiping them with a damp cloth. A quick rinse in cold water is fine, but never soak them or they will get soggy.

Be sure to wear rubber gloves when handling hot peppers or wash hands thoroughly after handling. Skin, especially around the eyes, is very sensitive to the oil from peppers.

Cut down on cholesterol by using more vegetables and less poultry or meats in soups, stews and casseroles.

Cut down on fat in creamy salad dressing by mixing it with plain low fat yogurt.

Sweeten plain low fat or nonfat yogurt with pureed fruit or applesauce instead of buying prepared fruit yogurt.

FITNESS

Working Smart: 4-Easy Ways to Get Fit, Faster!

Let??™s face it, getting and staying in shape can be a costly investment. And, if you??™re not careful, its greatest cost is the one commodity you could use the most of: time (keeping monetary costs in check is another volume, entirely). Yet, even many seasoned exercisers often have difficulty changing their bodies with regular workouts. And worse, many think the more hours spent training heavily, the better the result. Not true! Often this break-neck pace leads only to fatigue, burnout, and injury.

What most people also may not realize, there are several, easy ways to redistribute your time and create ???smarter??™ workouts. These common sense, turbo-chargers cost little or no money, will help change your body in a positive way, and all without giving up a lot of time.

Here, I??™ve given you four simple strategies that can help you turbo charge your workout (and your body), too:

1.) Warm Up and Cool Down Sufficiently. In short: take 10. Strive to take 10 minutes before heavy exercise to get blood flowing with light aerobic activity (walking, or a series of slow arm and leg circles) to get the large muscle groups moving and prevent injury. At the end of your workout, try to opt for 10 minutes of light stretching, aiming at the major muscle groups: arms, back, chest, and legs. This will help re-absorb lactic acid (metabolic waste that builds up during exercise and can lead to soreness).

2.) Drink More Water. Just eight-8oz. glasses of water per day will carry away waste and toxins from your body. It will also help keep you cool during exercise and replace the fluids lost during your workout (you will usually lose 1 liter per 1-hour workout).

3.) Get Adequate Rest. The body requires a sufficient amount of sleep for rest and tissue repair (usually around 7-8 hours per night for the healthy person). Sleep also provides the body time to lower levels of bacteria in the body. It actually stimulates the immune system! If you can??™t get your eight hours, try to take a quick 10-20 minute power nap sometime during the day.

4.) Go Easy on the Starchy Carbs. Try to ???balance??? starchy carbs (cereals, breads, white potatoes, rice) with protein and veggie alternatives.

My own personal case study: Even though I??™d been exercising for years, I couldn??™t shake the extra 10 pounds I??™d gained in college. I exercised for about an hour every day rotating my routine between cardio and resistance training. Did I need to exercise more? I wondered. Maybe, but I couldn??™t fit another hour into the day. So, I took a good look at my diet. What I found was, every day I was loading up with starchy carbs! Lots of cereal and toast. Lots of potatoes and white rice. Resolve: Just by balancing my meals with egg whites, sweet potatoes, green leafy veggies, and lean meats, I lost what remained.

If you could use a Jump-start in you workout or haven??™t seen changes in awhile, these four ideas are well worth your consideration. Plus, just by changing one small thing, you could make quite a difference in your shape. It will add a new element of vigor to your workout! So, reap the big rewards of these small changes, they will pay dividends on your investment.
