NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

Post Started by Tracey Smith:

That's it - and out of the way - now down to the serious business of planning and plotting for 2005.

The trouble with resolutions is, even with the best will in the world, unless you have a little support from your friends it is too much of an uphill struggle.

...and so to my posting...

This is the place to list your MAIN resolution for the New Year!

It can be as wild and fanciful as you like, but it has to be the thing your heart is set on.

As the weeks and months go by, we can dip back into this thread and ask each other how we are doing on the way to our goal.

I will kick it all off.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My resolution for 2005 is to decide on an Agent to represent my work and get them to take my first book to print.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I look forward to reading yours and offering my support

Let's all have a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Follow Up Posts:

Cindy (lynbro): I resolve to have all my Christmas shopping done in 2005 well before the C-day. I plan to make and shop for gifts throughout the year so it won't be such a hassle around the holidays. Please, please, please keep reminding me of this, LOL, I need all the help I can get.

Judy: Well... I didn't make or send ANY Christmas cards last year. My resolution is to start making them early this year and get them sent out in time! I need to make about a hundred. If I start now, that's less than 10 a month.

BUSINESS HELP NEEDED

The DCW forums are a place where women network, share their tips and help each other. Can you help here?

1. Marketing help, where do I start?

I have recently taken my craft show online. Over the holiday I seemed to get a good deal of traffic but am so new to all this I would love some input and advice.

2. Adsense and Frontpage

I am using Front Page 2003 for the first time and I'm loving it! Except for one frustration...

I'll be going along and everything is great, then I'll add a new article page and it will refuse to publish for no reason that I can imagine.

Also - when I add adsense code to a page it won't publish no matter what!!!

What could I be doing wrong? Any thoughts?

COOKING TIPS

MICROWAVE MAGIC

A Guide to Achieving Optimum Results

Safety:
Always observe manufacturer's instructions when operating your microwave oven. It's important to keep the oven interior clean from spills and splatters...especially around the doors and seals. Food buildup can impede cooking time and efficiency.

Heating Consistency:
To assure thorough results, rotate & stir large amounts of food and/or containers halfway through the cooking or reheating cycle. Microwave ovens with a carousel feature do this automatically for you.

Standing Time:
Foods removed from microwave ovens often require a few minutes of "standing time" prior to serving.

Steaming:
Microwave steamers and roasters require a quarter inch of water or other liquid at the bottom of the microwave cookware unit. Some foods require you to monitor the cooking process and to add water to prevent drying.

Timing:
Compact and other low watt microwave ovens (600 watt or less) may require longer cooking times than some recipes or packaging instructions call for.

Cleaning:
I recommend cleaning the inside of your microwave at least once a week. I personally use NON-TOXIC cleaners such as a solution of 1/2 water and 1/2 lemon juice.

CRAFT IDEAS

Egg-Shells: Don't Throw Them Away

What do you do with the leftover egg shells after boiling all of those eggs?

* Make egg mosaics with the kids - glue broken shells in patterns to make fun pictures.

* Crush and plant them in your roses - they love broken egg shells!

* Compost them (as long as you're just using food coloring on the egg shells, they should be fine in the compost pile).

* Create egg shell candles - insert a tea light into an egg shell half, or create a candle by pouring in melted candle wax into the egg shell and adding a wick. Very pretty!

* Chia egg shells: plant chives or grass seed into egg shell half for the "hair", draw a face on the egg for a chia egg shell "person".

*You can also rinse the shells left from baking etc. and toast them on a foil lined cookie sheet 350 degrees for about 8-10minutes. Let them cool crush and spread under your bird feeders. The birds love them.

* I've colored them in easter egg dye, brack them up, put inside the bottom of a pretty jar and insert a tea light. sooo pretty.

POOPY CRAFTS

CUPID POOP
Put some cinnamon red hot heart shaped candies (or those heart shaped candies with the little sayings on them!) in a bag or jar with this note:

I couldn't send you flowers, and candy wouldn't do.
And mushy cards just didn't say the things I want them to.
So I got you something special, and here's the inside scoop.
I found you something very rare - It's genuine Cupid poop!
