FIRST STEPS IN
WEDDING PLANNING
We have the event but where do we
start? First and foremost, get an idea of the type of event you are
having. Is this event a large or small affair, informal or formal,
and will there be a theme to go with this event? These are the
questions that we need to answer.
During this first phase we need to
collect magazines or articles that relate to the type of event that
we are having. Be sure to get an idea of? how many people will
attend this event. Even though you may not have an? exact head
count, you will be able to get an idea of how much everything costs
depending on the amount of people. The more people that attend, the
higher the cost will be.
You now need to secure the location.
The location will be a big factor In planning the event because some
event facilities do not allowed outside caterers, which can become
extremely expensive if you are limited to just using their catering
service. Once again, depending on the number of people attending,
you will need an event location that will be able to occupy that
number.
After securing your location you may
move on to the food, music, and decorations. Decorations include
your colors that you will be using and the flowers, streamers, and
anything such as candles that you will use to create the look or
theme that you want your event to have. Also, be sure to pick out
any awards or gifts that you may be giving to the guests.
At this point you also need to find
out if any guest will need travel and sleep arrangements. Some event
planners choose to create maps and block of a set of rooms at a
local hotel. This is also the time to confirm and book any speakers,
special acts, or musicians that you would like for entertainment.
Don??™t forget the invitations and
calling two weeks prior to the event to ensure that everyone is on
the same page. Invitations should be sent out eight weeks in advance
with a time period of two weeks before the event for RSVP??™s and six
weeks in advance if RSVP??™s are not required.
Now all that is left is to enjoy the event!!!!

WEDDING PLANNING
TIPS
~Always ask around for referrals.
Utilize web boards, contact your local Chamber of Commerce, and
double check with the Better Business Bureau for any complaints
about a vendor before you start hiring for your event.
~Take your time and always trust
your instincts when planning an event!
~When purchasing flowers from a
florist, always get three estimates from three different florists
to not only find the best price but to find the best flowers and a
florist that you feel comfortable working with.
~Selecting Music is now made even easier by visiting music sites
online and taking the time to listen to the different selections. A
great site to listen to music online is:

~If you are working on a budget,
visit online websites for event articles to help you plan. Visit
The Plunge website filled with tips and ideas for all types of
events:

~You should begin shopping for a
baker 6-8 months before the wedding. If you plan on having your
reception catered, ask your caterer if they will bake your wedding
cake. However, you do not have to choose the caterer to bake your
cake. You can also buy cakes from commercial and boutique bakeries,
custom wedding cake designer, a culinary school or someone you know
who makes cakes from home.

TIPS FOR GUESTS AT A WEDDING
Is it okay to wear black to a wedding?
Yes, it is okay, but only if it is an evening wedding or a black
and white wedding. Other than the options in the previous sentence,
I do not suggest that you wear black. Most brides and families view
the color black to represent death.
Not knowing the time of day that you are attending this wedding;
my best suggestion is to avoid wearing black if it is not an evening
wedding.
Do not wear white
It sounds obvious, but remember that wearing white is the bride??™s
prerogative, even if you know she??™s not a virgin and she??™s got
children.

LOOKING GOOD ON YOUR WEDDING DAY - Tips for
Brides
Fitness Plan: Start a fitness regime weeks ahead and
include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, water, fruit juices
etc. in your diet for that naturally healthy glow in your skin.
Beauty Care: Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize daily. Do
not use any new cosmetic products on recommendations. This is not
the time for any trials.
Visit to the Salon: A day or two before your special
day, visit your regular beauty salon and get your nails manicured. A
facial massage will also do wonders. A series of massages started a
couple of months before the wedding is very much desirable.
Wedding Dress: Choose a dress that suits you
and not everybody around you. Choose something that brings out the
best in you. For information on how to find fashionable wedding
clothing on a budget, see
http://www.dotcomwomen.com/beauty/couture-wedding-clothing.shtml.
And never forget this - Classic never goes out of fashion.
Hairstyle: Your wedding day hairstyle will
make or break things. To choose the hairstyle that fits perfectly
with your face, dress and body type. Fix an appointment with your
hair stylist in advance and try a variety of hairstyles and finally
choose the one that suits you best. Here's a list of top ten
checklists for your wedding day hairstyle -

Makeup: To look good in your Wedding photos,
proper makeup is a must. Book your appointment at your salon well in
advance. Read this article for more information on wedding makeup -
http://www.dotcomwomen.com/beauty/wedding-makeup.shtml.
Glow from Within: And most important, think
about the wonderful new life that you are going to begin, meditate,
deep breathe and RELAX. That will lend you a lovely glow from within
that no makeup can ever match!
