LET'S TALK BUSINESS

How to Build an E-Commerce Business

If you already sell a product or service online, you can take your existing business online by building a website and selling your products online. You will be able to reach out to a larger number of people with less than half the costs you incur on your existing offline business. You can also have your own affiliate program which your visitors and other interested persons may join and sell your products for a commission.

What it takes to set up an online business is discussed below. Linked keywords will take you to articles containing detailed info about those keywords.

1. You will need a domain name and a website.

2. Your hosting will need a 'secure server' if you will be accepting credit cards so that people can safely enter their credit card numbers without the fear of their identity theft.

3. The website you will build will require an online shopping cart of some kind. You can add a simple Paypal shopping cart or an advanced osCommerce Shopping Cart for free. There are a lot of paid options for shopping carts as well. You can hire programmers to set up these carts on your website.

4. A merchant account and a Paypal account will be necessary for accepting and processing credit card payments and payments by Paypal respectively. You can get a merchant account at http://www.2checkout.com. Opening a Paypal account is free.

5. If you choose a simple Paypal shopping cart, you will have to do a lot of manual work if you have a lot of products or services to add to the site. A Paypal cart is good if you are selling a single product or a few products. For larger product databases, go in for an advanced shopping cart like osCommerce Shopping Cart. It comes with an admin section where you can add/edit/delete products, make as many categories and sub-categories as you want to, check all orders, check your inventory, add discount coupons etc. Go to osCommerce Shopping Cart to read about all features this shopping cart has.

6. Check your emails daily, complete your orders in time and be prompt when responding to customer queries. This will help in building a trustworthy and reliable reputation for your business.

RECIPES

Baked Parsnips Irish Style

2-1/2 pounds parsnips
2 ounces butter or bacon fat
3 tablespoons stock
salt and freshly ground pepper
pinch of nutmeg

Peel parsnips, quarter, and remove any woody core. Parboil for 15 minutes.Place in an ovenproof dish. Add stock and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Dot with butter and bake for 30 minutes on a low shelf in a moderate oven. (Generally parsnips are baked in the same oven as the main meat dish, whose cooking temperature governs that of the parsnips.)

ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARTY GAMES

St. Patrick??™s Party Games for Grown-Ups

Party games may have gone in and out of style over the years, but Warner??™s collection caters to partygoers who want activities that are fast-paced and thought-provoking.

"Tell those guests who hate games that these games are new, different, and worth a try. Most people enjoy games that are fresh and unusual because they haven??™t had past experiences with failure or boredom,??? says Warner

Kiss Me, I??™m Irish

You can play this game on St. Patrick??™s Day or make adaptations to other cultures and play any day of the year.

Materials Needed:

Irish trivia, or trivia about other cultures, countries, and so on
Paper
Pencils, 1 for each player

Playing Time: 30-45 minutes

How to Play

Research Irish culture, St. Patrick??™s Day in particular.
Write down trivia questions, such as ???Who was St. Patrick???? ???Why do we wear green on St. Patrick??™s Day???? ???What??™s the significance of a four-leaf clover???? and so on.
Distribute paper and pencils.
Read the trivia questions and have the players write down the answers.
Read the answers at the end of the game and give a point for each correct answer.
Award an appropriate prize, such as Irish beer, chocolate gold coins, or a book on Irish lore, to the player with the most points.

Variation

Make a multicultural game and include questions from other cultures, such as African, Alaskan, Asian, Australian, European, Indian, and so on. Or have your guests bring trivia questions regarding their own culture to share with the group.

Penny Warner??™s ???Games People Play??? has 180 games for every occasion and holiday ??“ Valentine??™s Day, the Academy Awards, St. Patrick??™s Day, Christmas ??“ and for no occasion at all. ???Games People Play??? is available wherever you buy books or at www.meadowbrookpress.com

What??™s an easy, convenient (and free) way to manage day-to-day stress? Just breathe.

Deep breathing can help you relax by lowering your blood pressure, slowing your heart rate and respiration rates and easing muscle tension. Even as little as five minutes a day of deep breathing can calm and refresh you and leave you more alert.

The ???Mayo Clinic Women??™s HealthSource??? monthly publication offers instructions to achieve relaxation by breathing.

Sit in a comfortable chair, feet flat on the floor.

Close your eyes, or visually focus on something in the room.

Paying attention to your breathing, inhale slowly through your nose. Visualize your diaphragm moving down to create more space for your lungs to expand.

Let your lower abdomen relax and expand as it fills with air.

When your lungs and abdomen are full, slowly let air out through your mouth and allow your diaphragm to collapse.

Repeat. If your mind wanders, return your attention to your breathing.

When you are ready to end the session, don??™t jump out of your chair. Slowly start to regain a sense of your surroundings. When you??™re ready, allow your attention to return fully.

Practice breathing deeply to reduce anxiety, conserve energy, improve sleep, improve concentration and relieve muscle tension. The long-term goal is to reduce the effects of stress on your life.

???Mayo Clinic Women??™s HealthSource??? is published monthly to help women enjoy healthier, more productive lives. Revenue from subscriptions is used to support medical research at Mayo Clinic. To subscribe, call 800-876-8633, extension 9PK1.
