LET'S TALK BUSINESS

A Single 'Mom' Success Story

I cook and I clean. I get groceries and put out the garbage. Wash dishes, do laundry, mow the lawn, run to doctor and dentist appointments and pick up prescriptions. I also wonder about my daughters future and stay awake some nights worrying about her health (she is hemiplegics and has suffered from life-long seizures and still has life-threatening seizures).

However, I also own and operate a very successful home-based Internet business. I publish a popular ezine, have authored one of the best-selling Internet marketing books around and started two financially lucrative affiliate programs. My brand new affiliate program is about to be released.

I started all this a little more than two years ago, when I was in deep debt after a horrible divorce with just a dial-up to my name. And I did it on my own as a single parent!

Am I telling you that I'm a SuperParent, or Ultra- Entrepreneur? Nope! Far from it. I simply knew "I could" make a living from the Internet and just held my breath until I did it! However, due to this diligence, I came across some wonderful new friends, who offered some good advice and more important, moral support.

The "how-to" of all this is much too lengthy for an article and in fact I address the entire process in my about-to-be- released book, however, I want to share with you the words my daughter wrote to me, verbatim (grammar and all) in this year's Mother's Day card:

"Thank you for taking care of me and providing for my needs when i needed them when mum wasn't there for me:-( Your the bestest dad i'll ever have you rock! Thank you for looking out for me when i needed someone, i know i am stubborn when it comes to someone giving me advice because i guess i just want to figure things out on my own Thank you so much for giving me all the advice you give me. I'm so proud to call you my mum and my dad.

I love you"

If you're confused, I really AM her mother too.

My name is Rick Beneteau, and I'm a single parent. If I can do it, so can you!

HOME DECOR

Decorating for Fall

As the leaves begin to change color, we??™re reminded once again that Autumn is in the air ??“ time to cozy up the house and get ready to celebrate the season with a little redecorating.

During the summertime months less is more, however in the Autumn, more is definitely better. As the chill sets in, it??™s time to bring some coziness back into our rooms. Feather your nest with layers of texture, color and pattern. Place area rugs over hard flooring and carpeting alike. Build up window treatments by adding lined drapes to sheers or wooden blinds to existing designs. Rearrange furnishings into intimate groupings and reclaim stored blankets and pillows to warm up your house with the comforts of home.

One of the most effective (and inexpensive) ways to bring warmth to your décor is by adding a dash of color to your walls. This seasons paint palette is rich with shades that simply sing fall. Consider choosing from Autumn Gold or Golden Bark, Spiced Pumpkin or Spiced Apple Cider, Dry Sage, October Mist or Amber ??“ just a few of my favorite hues for any room in the house.

Luxurious fabrics for upholstery, drapes, pillows, even bedding, can be found in nubby wools, a myriad of real or faux leathers and suedes and in silks with embroidered and beaded construction as well as rich velvets. The difference in the newest fabrications is the interplay of light with finishes that suggest a slight shimmer when touched. Bold patterns continue showing up in a mix of plaids, stripes, checks and florals, so don??™t be afraid to mix and match.

Rework your collectibles into interesting vignettes. Display your favorite pottery and fill them with flowers or branches. Arrange apples, acorns or pinecones in a series of wooden bowls. Nature is always a great source of inspiration when decorating for fall, so bring some of the outdoors in. Trays filled with candles in spicy scents instantly envelop a room with warmth. Indulge your senses with objects that look, feel, smell and taste good.

As you begin to nest, you??™ll notice things getting a little cozy ??“ that??™s ok. Surrounding yourself with the things you love is key. Fluff up your pillows, light a fire in the fireplace and make sure you have you??™re favorite blanket when curled up on the couch ??“ Sunday mornings never looked so good.
