Hi All, I'm sending y'all this special report about the "Sober Viruse" (Sober.Q) to alert you to it's powers of madness. I've been getting spam of the worst kind, political hate mail in German since the 15th.. 100s upon 100s of it. I contacted tech support at my ISP and the following is the info the tech was nice enough to find for me. Please read his report and follow the URLs he gives below. This is a serious problem and I thought you'd want to know about it. To stay on the safe side, run a full scan on your PC. Also, on the 1st link below, that report explains where the worm is hidden, all the file names it uses, where it hides, etc. I know I don't have it but someone who has my email addess certainly does. I'm gettin' bombed with this stuff and I'm not ashamed to tell you, it was quite scarey to see some of the headlines that were threatening to the US. Heck, I was about ready to contact the FBI! LOL.. sounds funny now, but if you saw all that mail, you may think the same thing. People you know, who have your email address in their address book, or have visited pages recently that are stored in their browsers temporary internet files but might have your email address on them are infected with the virus. The virus then propogates the spam by forging the FROM: address to be one of the addresses it finds in the infected computer's address book and it sends the payload (spam in this case) to the other persons it finds in the infected computer's address book and to other email addresses it finds in documents on the infected computer. The likelihood is very very low that your system is infected. But many people you know, or have corresponded with, or have your email address in their address book etc, are infected. And it is the Sober.Q virus on their systems that is sending out this spam that you are seeing.
