My Thanksgiving Memories
by

Norma Liles

I need to set the stage for this story. I am thankful for the large family from which I come. Including myself, there were eight girls plus two boys. I am number nine of the ten.

My Mother's birthday is November 30th. She has already gone to meet our Maker but even so, the memories of her and my family are strong. My father left us in 1949 when we lost him to a railroad accident, but that is fuel for another story. Now, we can rejoice that she and Daddy are together in God's Heaven.

One Thanksgiving, a few years ago, several of my siblings and I met at Mother's home to celebrate Thanksgiving as well as having a surprise birthday party for her. We had an awesome time.

Mother was so happy to see so many of her children in attendance as well as all the gifts and the food. As a group, we had ordered her a beautiful bouquet of red roses.  Mother had gone blind several years prior to this time, but it never took away her love of family and parties. Mother had an 'ear' for music that none of the rest of us have inherited.

My heart fills with sweet memories as I recall my siblings and me gathering around the piano to sing harmony, as Mother tickled the ivories. We sang a lot of the old hymns as well as the popular tunes of the day.

I must say that I am so thankful to have been raised by God fearing parents as well as being a part of a large family. I am only touching the tip of the iceberg on the memories that I possess of those days, gone bye.

RE: A Mediterranean Meal

Was I ever surprised when I got to the end of Margo's story and discovered "Ramon" was a cat.  Whew" I must be losing it. Lol.............Enjoyed the story.  Keep up the good work.

Re: (Contest) My "Unofficial" Thanksgiving

For two weeks I silently mouthed my thanks and praise each day, many times a day sometimes.  I found myself really rejoicing around the house at times.

I think Jenny shared a lot of how God gives us answers, in HIS perfect time regarding our life situations.  I'm so glad she found the patience to work with her children.  What a great illustration and quote "If Jesus could bear with me and take all my sins, the least I could do was bear

her anger."  We don't often place things in that perspective but it is so true. And see how it paid off with her daughter.  This is a good story....and yes we must "Count it All Joy," Jenny and it looks like you did too!

Re: Donkey in the Well

Please thank Al Batt for a well done story and a lesson that needs to be applauded.  It takes adversity to teach us the value of turning the other cheek.  I have been reading Starfish for several years now and often share it with family and friends.  God bless the work you do.

Re:  Lost Files by Ellie Braun Haley

God Bless you, Bob,
A beautiful Lord's Day here in the Columbus, Ohio area; Pataskala which is close. Just a comment on 'Lost Files' by Ellie Braun Haley; a fantastic story.  I love to hear the testimonials of people whom God has blessed! I have had answered prayers to so many small things that could have resulted in becoming large things. Ellie's story certainly made my day!
Love-in-Christ,

Normie
