Dear to Our Hearts
by
Norma Liles

We started out with one female cat whom we have named, Freeway, as she was found on the highway so the name seemed to fit her to perfection. She created a special place in all our lives but she had not been spade to keep her from becoming a Momma. Once she got out of the house by accident, she became pregnant.

We waited and waited as we saw her become more lazy and acquire quite a tummy. Finally, the day arrived when she delivered six little kitties. She was a super Mom and the kitties were adorable. There were not two kitties alike except a couple of them came close to being like their Momma who is a calico.

Each one of the kitties had their own personalities and their own coat. We found names for each one of them. The first born we named Bubba even though we were not sure if she was a he or a she. Bubba was the fattest with a white coat with dabs of black. Then we had Popeye who was mostly black with marks around the eyes which made us think of Popeye. Then we had one which was solid black whom we called, what else, Blackie. We called the larger of the two calico coated kitties, Princess, and the smaller of the two we called Imogene. The last one which we kept we called Tiger Lil as she was tiny but very determined. She has a beautiful black/gray striped coat. She has wormed herself into our hearts and causes her Momma to play like another kitten. I have never heard of a cat that could 'fetch' but she has proven that to be untrue.

She will only 'fetch' back to the person who starts the game until a new game starts by another one.

One of the things that endeared Tiger Lil to us is the fact that she was the first to climb out of the box which they had been calling home. Thank you little gal for being our kitten and I pray that all of your sisters/brothers, whichever they maybe, have found good homes.
