Take me back to
1951 when life was so fresh and new to a young girl that I
was at that time. Romance was strong on my mind and my head
was quickly turned when I met the man of my dreams.
He was
quite the handsome fellow who was quick with a smile and his
laughter would fill the room. Notwithstanding, he was strong
as an ox from the heavy work that he did for the railroad
but gentle with those he loved.
For a
short time, we only saw each other in passing but
eventually, he called me for a date and I readily accepted.
Harold
was 7 yrs my senior and quite ready to settle down to being
a married man so in July 1952, we were married. We didn't
have much in those days but the love in our hearts carried
us through the rough times. In December 1953, we had a
darling little girl who completed the circle of our love.
The
road of true love is not always smooth so through trials and
temptations our marriage came to an end in 1971.
In
1993, my second husband passed away so now I am a widow but
in my hearts of hearts, Harold was and always will be the
love of my life. He passed away in 1987 but I know for a
fact, he loved me to the day he died. Life can be cruel but
if I had it all to do over again, I would do the same thing.
