Here’s
to the editors,
who should be the creditors,
of making my writing read well.
My grammar’s been remedied,
my tone has been steadied,
and made the finished stories sound swell.
They aren’t always given credit,
or nearly enough merit,
for all the editing work they’ve done.
So I hereby propose.
that us folks who write prose
should say thanks to each and every one.
Their
work can be perilous,
as they edit wordy superfluous,
and cut our beloved work down to the bone.
But they
make them much tighter,
and our grammar much righter,
that most of us could ever achieve on our own.
So this
poem is now ending,
and soon I shall be sending,
to have it be read by readers just like you.
But before hitting that send key
I should have first send me
latest words to an editor for review…
