Fat and fluffy, fat and
fluffy. No I??™m not talking about Johnnie. She??™s not
fluffy. Fat; well ??¦ let??™s just say she is pleasantly
plump.
I once heard my dad tell
my mother he didn??™t care how fat she got. He said he had a
piece of chock and he would start hugging her and marking
where he hugged with the chock. When he got back to where
the chock mark was, he would know he had hugged her all the
way around.
He said she could get so
fat that he would have to squeeze her to see her eye balls.
Now back to ???fat and
fluffy.??? I was talking about Johnnies pancakes. They are
fat and fluffy and taste great. Johnnie fixed them for
supper last night.
When she hands me my
plate, it has three pan cakes on it and they are hot right
off the griddle. I smear butter between the second one and
the third one. Then put butter between the top one and the
second one. Lastly i cover the top one with butter.
They are hot enough to
melt the butter and it soaks in. Then I cut up the whole
pile into bit size chunks. Next comes the white karo
syrup. I drown the whole plate with the syrup.
Ok, by this time my mouth
is watering for that first bit. But I don??™t take it yet.
Why? Because I haven??™t put my Smucker??™s plum jelly on yet.
I put my personal jar of
Smucker??™s plum jelly next to my plate and dip my fork into
it and get some jelly on my fork, then stick several pieces
of pan cake. Now I have my first bit. Mmmmm, good.
By this time Johnnie has
her plate of pan cakes cooked and sits down at the table.
She doesn??™t put butter on hers, and the only syrup she uses
is some sugar free stuff. It??™s dark brown in color like
some other syrups, but it doesn??™t have much favor to it.
I finish mine before she
finishes hers and I have to sit there and wait for her to
clean up her plate before she will get up and cook me
another stack.
When i get my second stack
i go through the same ritual as the first time. But i can
eat only half of these before I??™m full. So I set my plate
down on the floor and little fox cleans it up for me.
I hug Johnnie and tell her
thank you for the pan cakes and little fox licks her hand
and tells her thank you for the pan cakes. Or is it the
other way around? Well it doesn??™t make any difference
because both of us want her to know we appreciate the pan
cakes.
She ask us what i would
like for supper tomorrow night and i told her ??¦ but no
that??™s a whole nother story for a different time.
