Make a Ripple - Make a Difference

Greetings, Ripplemakers

Delia
by
Loren Moore

Delia is my favorite adopted daughter.  Well alright, she is my only adopted daughter, but she is still my favorite.

Delia lives across the street from Johnnie and me with her husband, Sergio and her four sons.  The youngest of which is one year old.  Now with four sons and a husband to take care of, you would think that was a full time job.  And it does keep her busy, but she finds time to do other things.

She attends church regularly and holds bible classes in her home twice a week.  She is a very spiritual person and lives the life of a spirit filled woman.

She is a Hispanic lady, tall, and thin with eyes that sparkle and hair that shines flaxen black.

As long as Delia has lived across the street from us we have never heard her scream or raise her voice at her boys.

Delia is hospitable and helpful and teaches her boys to follow her principals.

She makes sure that she or the boys are willing to help Johnnie and me with any chores we have.  Many times when Johnnie came back from the grocery store, with a car load of groceries, if Delia or one of the boys saw her, they would come running to help unload the groceries and carry them in the house.

Delia is gracious and a little mischievous.  She likes to tease me and does every time she gets a chance. But that??™s a whole ???nother story for a different time.  She never forgets a birthday or a holiday to show her love for Johnnie and me.

Delia has a beautiful singing voice and she and Sergio sing at church.

There is one more thing I??™ve got to tell you.  It is not about Delia but it shows her influence on her boys.

One time Johnnie asked Sergio jr. What he wanted to be when he grew up.  He told her he was going to be an attorney.   ???oh good when i run a red light and get a ticket, you can get me off??? Johnnie said.

???no ma??™am I couldn??™t do that??? Sergio Jr. Answered.

Shocked Johnnie asked, ???why not????

Sergio jr. hung his head and said in a very quite voice, ???Because you would be guilty.???
