The holidays are here and the world is
either enjoying them fully or getting depressed. I read that
during this time of the year there is more depression and
suicide than any other time of the year. How sad it is that
this, one of the most beautiful times of the year for us
causes such pain and sadness in so many.
Why is
the holiday season so bad for so many and so good for
others?
One
of the local groups who give to the needy at Christmas time
posts the letters that ask for help in the daily paper.
Yesterday a young boy wrote to ask for help for himself and
his brother and both were under the age of 12. He mentioned
that the two of them shared two pairs of pants and one extra
pair because their parents were gone and the aunt who is
keeping them can??™t afford more. This young boy was not
asking for toys and candy??¦he just wanted clothing for
himself and his brother and added a note that his aunt could
use a bit of help too. This young man seems to be adjusting
to his situation and given the right kind of help may
eventually get a good education and be able to better
himself and his family. How sad that a child has to suffer
this way.
Whether the holidays are a time of happiness or sadness for
you, looking to the future and praying for better times can
make it better. God may not give you what you asked for at
the time but surely he is giving you what is best for you.
He is there for us. If he doesn??™t seem to be there for us,
perhaps we are not looking closely. If not God, then who or
what has given the groups and individuals the idea to go out
to help those who need it?
