Gosh, I
cannot remember life without books! Books captivated me
from the time that I saw one; lying there among the
newspapers; being ignored.
I could not
decipher their meaning but still there was a feeling of
closeness that I was too young to understand. I just knew,
inside myself that they were neat.
Reading has
taken me away from myself into a world of
imagination, understanding and self _expression.
From the
time that my parents realized that I could read well they
found my head, burrowed in a book; oblivious to my
surroundings.
When others
will complain of boredom, feeling at loose ends, I turn to
my books for comfort and guidance.
Today, I
find myself penning words which develop into poems, stories
and now and then, a song. My love of reading has led
me
to a plane of a different sort than I ever imagined. I find
solace in using these letters as a balm; like a medicne.
This
Christmas will be no different than those in the past, rest
assured if all else fails, I will receive Books!
