Make a Ripple - Make a Difference

Greetings, Ripplemakers

I have two more Christmas stories for you.  I couldn't get them published in time for the contest, but I think you'll enjoy them.  So - last ones for this year, (today and tomorrow), here are the final Christmas stories for this year.

Christmas Memories
by
Ramona Paulette Perry

I have a lot of wonderful Christmas memories however, I wish to write about one in particular. It was Christmas 1967. By this time in my life, I was now living with my Father. I am the oldest of eight children. So much had taken place in my life from the age of 14 until this year I am writing of. Our Dad was a hard working man and tried to have a good Christmas for us each year. This particular year, was not to be quite as lavish as other years. The times were a little more difficult. He called the Salvation Army and asked for Christmas for his children. They said they would help make our Christmas a happy one.

I knew there was an age limit for the gifts that would be coming. They would be supplying one gift each for the younger children, they would also help with a fruit basket and a Christmas meal. I was elated when their truck came. I knew how happy the younger children would be. I stayed home from school that day so I would be there when their truck arrived..the others were at school. The men who brought the childrens gifts, were so kind. I thanked then and hurried to get the gifts in the house. I hid all the gifts, as well as the fruit basket. I put the cans of food up in our pantry and was so pleased to know that I could fix a Christmas dinner for all of us.

When Christmas morning arrived, dad and I watched the children as they opened their gifts. I can only say, seeing the happiness on their faces, and hearing the excitement in their voices, were gift  enough for me. We had been truly blessed. Later that day, we all enjoyed a warm meal and had fruit for desert. It is not how many gifts a person receives on Christmas morning that counts. What does count and always will, is the love that is felt in our hearts and homes and having family together. Thank you God for your blessings.  that Christmas is all about love. Love and blessings from God
