Make a Ripple - Make a Difference

Greetings, Ripplemakers

H Walks in Integrity

What is a student friend, whether girl or boy?

One day during my administrative service years I found out.

A teen boy appeared at my office door and asked to come in.

Of course, he was welcome; he seemed to have a need. ANYTHING else could just wait!

Student: ???Mr. Agee, I have a friend who is being hit by her dad.??? (I believe that ???friend??? was ???girlfriend???, but this still shows true caring.)

Agee: ???Has she reported it????

Student: ???No, she is afraid to!  Last time, the school called HER DAD!???

Agee: (With great intelligence) ???Oh????

Student (nervously): ???Well, I better go.???

I stood, as he did.

Agee: ???Do you want her death on you; I don??™t want it on me!???

The pause which always counts!

Student: ???OK??¦. What should we do????

Agee: ???You take the pass and get her out of class. I??™ll wait on the stairs, where she can??™t see me.???

The two of us set out on our mission.

He brought her to me, and I told her ??“ with no upset involved ??“ that we were going together to the office.

The closure is that we got her official help, relations at home were unfriendly, she was now safe, and her student friend wrote me the most beautiful thank-you note which I have ever received from anyone ??“ about the changing of lives forever.
