Make a Ripple - Make a Difference

Fly Home Birdie, Fly Home
by
Violet Apted

I have read with interest some of the wonderful animal stories on Tapestry. I never thought I would be able to contribute, since losing my two wonderful cats many years ago was so painful, I decided I could not own another pet and go through so much pain again. I am sorry also that I could not relive the pain by writing the story dear. I am sure many of your members will be able to relate to my feelings.

However Carol there has been a 'happening' (for want of knowing what to call it.)  this past two weeks that I would like to share with you all. It begins with a much beloved pet Parrot, which belonged to my son in law's sister. She had owned the parrot for many years and was devoted to him. Two years ago Shirley was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and passed away aged 49 yrs. The parrot was 'adopted' by Shirley's brother and his wife who also lived in London. UK.  a few months later they moved to a small seaside town in Kent more than seventy miles from their home in London.

Sadly as they were cleaning the parrots cage one day, it got out and flew away. Despite all efforts Parrot was lost and their hearts were heavy, as the bird  was a 'close link' to their late sister.

Just two weeks ago, two months after losing the parrot, an aunt living in London, contacted them to say she had found a parrot in her garden, which was just a block away from their old address.  Hardly daring to hope they made their way to aunties house! Sure enough it was Shirley's  parrot!!! He had found his way 'home' after two months searching. Not finding Shirley, he had found her Auntie!!!!. How I love a story with a happy ending.

I Hope reading this helps to 'lift your day for you.
