If people were more like
angels, earth would be more like heaven....
August 22nd marks the
twelfth annual International Be An Angel Day. It was
founded in 1993 by one of the then "angel authors,"
and has been celebrated in many ways ever since.
Cities have officially proclaimed the day, marquees
have posted it and there have even been a few parades,
but the best way to celebrate it is to simply do
something loving and kind for someone else, whenever
possible, anonymously, as this is often how the angels
themselves work.
Ideas include paying
someone's toll or parking meter, writing a letter of
thanks to a former teacher or helper, sending a
cheerful card to a serviceman or woman, contributing
to a food bank or (at this time of year) a school
supply collection (I have the name of needy people if
you would like to contact me at
joan@joanwanderson.com),
leaving a flower on a co-worker's desk, praying for
someone, forgiving someone...
We are limited only by our
imaginations. And just think, if everyone did
SOMETHING, what a different world it would be.
I'm hoping you'll post this somewhere for your
readers. Even a day or two before August 22 would be
helpful. Hugs!
