My
husband and I just returned home from eight days in New York
City where we helped conduct an UPWARD BASKETBALL Clinic and
Mission trip in the Bronx. It was awesome, as we watched
the young boys and girls learn that they are worthy in God's
eyes. I think we really "misted" the seed planted earlier
by Billy Graham. We saw fear and mistrust mellow as they
learned the basics of basketball and Jesus. The neatest
thing for them is, this clinic will take place every other
week until August 12. They have all summer to really get
grounded in God's Word. People from Alabama, Arkansas,
South Carolina, and North Carolina will come on board
throughout the remainder of the summer.
Parents
were there as well. It was just like all the years my
husband was working in education, the parents of good
students came, watched, and then went home together. They
could not believe we were from New Mexico, Texas, and
Tennessee, just to teach them basketball and Jesus. We had
twenty-four decisions for Christ. It was an awesome
experience, and I know I was blessed beyond words. We did
not come back to New Mexico the same people that left New
Mexico.
I just
wanted to share this unique mission experience. It was our
first mission trip, but God willing, it won't be our last.
I saw for the first time in my life, the real need for
mission trips, and I will be changing the way I spend my
money from now on.
I have
new material for writing and I'll be sharing from time to
time. Thanks Bob, for your trip as well. We are anxious to
hear of your trip also.
