Make a Ripple - Make a Difference

Greetings, Ripplemakers

Shiloh's Voting Machine:  This week's favorite story was "One Last Gift", by Kathy Baker, and this week's favorite writer was Pamela Jenkins.

Be sure to stop by the voting booth to cast your votes this week again.  I'll have the voting machine reset tomorrow morning.  Congratulations to this week's winners!

I had the story of the little girl getting things purchased for her forwarded to me. It was touching and so like what I see down here in deep south Texas all too often.

The name of the person that wrote it is familiar to me, however I don't know him or if it is the same person. I know he is associated with the oilfields.

My husband and I were dining in a cafe', which is also the bus stop once, when a pickup pulled up with several big, dirty, coveralled oilfield hands in it.  Some were in the back with a couple that had obviously been back-packing or hitch hiking.

They came in leading them and carrying their packs.  They told the waitress to give them a good meal on them then one went to the bus ticket counter. He called back to the table where they all were, telling them to ante up a little over a hundred dollars.

A gentleman, I later learned that owned an oilfield company there, stood up and said he was good for it and all their meals.

Everyone in the cafe' cheered.

I didn't know there were good story sites like this that cater to those that make a difference in the lives of everyday people.

Please subscribe me. I need to read more of these wonderful and uplifting things that, I know, go on everyday and people never hear of them.

Thank you

Kathy's story is so poignant and touching, bringing memories of my mom and aunts that have passed on.

Re: From My Point of View, by Carol Dee Meeks

Hi: You certainly are doing a great service in the name of the Lord.

I just returned home last Sunday from back surgery at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. I am doing fine but quite weak still and a very, very sore back. I am so glad it is over with. I have been in such pain for over five months with back trouble and have not given any music lessons since the last of June.

We had such a successful l00th Anniversary Celebration at our church. We had approximately 200 at our banquet on Saturday night. I was chairman of the planning committee and I could not have been more pleased with the affair. I had a very responsible committee and everyone did their part.

Just wanted to tell you that I read your prose re: your experience at the training camp.
Love,
 Ethel

Re: I Know Exactly How You Feel, by Doris Fandal

Doris,  my thoughts and prayers are with you, and I know you'll survive this battle just as you did with cancer.  In the future I will always remember your words before saying, "I know exactly how you feel."  That's truly something I hadn't given much thought - and I thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Re: I Pray the Lord My Soul to Keep, by Kathy Pippig Harris

Dear Bob,

It has been a long time since I have written a note to you.  Please know that your wonderful inspirational messages make a difference, regardless of whether there are contributions in the "Mailbag" from your readership or not.

Katthy Harris' story reminds me that angels are watching over us.  Sometimes we can feel the rustle of their wings or hear the sweet whisper of their voices in times of great challenge or loss.  At other times, we can sense them fly across the written word, as oftentimes they can be seen, felt, and heard in the daily inspiration of "Starfish."

Keep believing in the value of what you do and the inspiration you share.  Your wings take flight and touch lives, as well, through the work that you do.

Blessings,
Donna S.

May your day be blessed

Bob Johnston
