In our
lives, we seem to have a lot of unplanned detours. As we
drive our cars, we run into a lot of them and have to change
our route to get to where we were going and sometimes those
detours add a lot of mileage to our trip. I seem to have
had a lot of those detours lately but none of them were road
detours. They were all health related detours.
It also seems as though my new name should be
???Oops??? or ???Incidentally??? since two of my life??™s detours have
involved hearing the word ???incidentally??™ and I added the
???oops??™ myself. The first one came in 2004 when I was
diagnosed with Parkinson??™s and the neurologist told me,
???Incidentally, Mrs. Fandal, in doing your MRI, we found that
you have a brain tumor. At that point I seem to have
blanked out in my mind because I did not hear him say
anything else. That detour went well and the surgery
removed that incidental!
This week, I went to have test results from a
CT scan and the doctor told me that I was okay to have the
surgery I needed but ???Incidentally, Mrs. Fandal, the CT scan
shows you have a blockage in one of your kidneys.??? Oops,
not again. Oh well, the IVP next week will let us know
where we are going from here. I guess this is just another
detour in my plans for my life. Oh yes, I might as well
mention that yesterday I got the news that I have basal cell
carcinoma (the best kind of skin cancer to have!) on my neck
and that detour will mean I will have to have it removed
soon. Oops, another detour!
Since I am addicted to my computer and have a
lot of online friends who get my letters and news, I
immediately sent out a call for prayers and one of my lady
friends replied immediately and let me know that I would be
in her prayers. Then she ended her message with this short
sentence??¦???Detours help us to realize that God is always just
around the corner waiting to take our hand.??? Sharon Morgan,
thank you for that reminder. I don??™t mind detours as long
as God is holding my hand. Let??™s get on with it and take
some measures to get around the latest of detours and get on
the road again??¦all repaired with the pot holes (surgeries)
finished and successful. Thank God I can rely on his help
to get me through; it is wonderful knowing I will have my
hands held by my sweet Mickey and God. I will be all right
another time.
And do remember that sometimes ???detours??™ add
mileage to our road trips; my life detours will hopefully
add mileage to my life trip.
