Good Morning, Ripplemakers

Thank you all for your feedback on the new layout.  The majority of you liked this format best, with second place falling to the style with 2 vertical blue stripes down the sides.  This one entails a little more time and effort, because the plain text version needs to be created separately.  As time permits, I plan to use this format as much as possible.

On another note, as a couple of you discovered, the lead-in to one of the stories last week was wrong.  The introduction related to a story about a man and his dog, but the attached story didn't go with the intro.  I'll have to do a better job of editing.  Any volunteers out there?

Bob

Missed Opportunities

FROM THE DESK OF : Ellie Braun-Haley
Thinking of you today.

I am sending you some thoughts. I had to go to the dentist office early yesterday morning and this is what happened when I came out.

                MISSED OPPORTUNITIES (BY Ellie BRAUN-HALEY)

Yesterday as I left the dentist's office I saw a rough looking man come around the back of the building where I was parked. He looked as though he'd been in the same clothes for awhile and he had a tough look about him.

I immediately locked the doors on the van. I felt vulnerable and threatened simply by the looks of this fellow. Then as I watched the man he moved over toward a garbage barrel and I realized he was rummaging for food or perhaps bottles to turn in for money.

It dawned on me this was a man down on his luck and I could help him. I grabbed my handbag and dug around for my wallet. When I found some money I looked up and the hobo had gone. I drove around the building looking for him but he had disappeared.

I felt awful. It seemed that I had indeed missed an opportunity to touch a life. Not only was I disappointed in myself but I wondered if perhaps God was a little disappointed too.

Re: Life is a Hallmark Card

Thanks, Kathy, for you memories about saving greeting cards. My friends think I've "lost it" when I tell them I have saved every card I ever received (including Christmas, and that's a LOT of cards) I make scrapbooks called "The ABC's of Christmas" so you are able to really make use of the cards: ie: A is for angel, B is for baby, C is for carols, etc. I just wish I was as organized as you seem to be by having them in one place.... maybe this will be the resolution I can keep this year! Re: The new format

Hi Bob,

I like this format......especially since you can click on the previous one or all others. This is neat.....I finally am back ONLINE.....been off since September. I am going to try and get you some of my work. Thanks for being a nice editor and I'm sorry the poetry had to end.

I think the format is good. You do a marvelous job and I think you are the greatest! You put out a lovely newsletter/e-zine!  Keep up the good work.  Be well

Hi................Happy Sunday!!
I love the new format.................and especially love the links on the left side, so we can look at more stories by the different people.
Keep up the good work, and please let us know when the stories are fictional, or actually true...............so we don't freak out about a fictional tale.
Thanks
Karen

Re: The Pretty Blue Jar

I wonder how many other people out there in "cyberspace" grew up with VICKS VapoRub? I had a similar experience and so did MY children!! Guess it is common to "our" generation, huh?
