There have been many times in my life when I felt
there were angels all around.
Once when I was a child, a family
friend escorted me home through the woods at night. I??™d
gotten homesick while staying with other friends. He could
have done whatever he chose to me, as there was no one to
stop him. But I felt warm and safe with him holding my hand.
I still remember the moon being very bright and it was a
very memorable moment in my life. This friend died not long
after that and I was very sad. Even though he was not a
Christian, he was a very kind and sweet old man. The whole
community loved him. I know there were angels all around
that night.
Then there was the time when my husband
and I had come home from visiting friends. I was, and still
am a coffee drinker. I wanted a cup of coffee before going
to bed, so I turned on the burner on the electric range
under the glass coffee pot to heat a cup of coffee, which
was left over from dinner.
Hours later I was sleeping and
suddenly, without a sound to waken me, I was wide awake. I
raised my head and looked towards a glow in the hallway
reflecting off the door of the linen closet. I did not
immediately recognize where it was coming from. I got up
from my bed and went red glow. When I got to the kitchen
where the reflection was emanating from, I knew immediately
what had happened. I had gone to bed and forgotten to turn
off the burner on the electric range. It must have been a
comical site, if someone had been watching me. I picked up
the now dry coffee pot and didn't know what to do with it. I
did a sort of dance, trying to decide where to set it down.
I knew if I set it down on a cold surface, it would break
into a million pieces. Finally I had the presence of mind to
set it back on the burner, which by this time had cooled.
But it was too late for the glass coffee pot. It cracked
instantly, completely covering the entire glass surface.
Thank the good Lord; it didn't shatter, as I was afraid it
would.
I still believe there were angels all
around that night, watching out for me and my family. A fire
could have resulted from that foolish mistake. But an angel
awakened me from a deep sleep.
Every one of my children, now grown,
had serious accidents which could have been fatal. Our
oldest son, who is a preacher/carpenter, has had several
accidents. In one instance, he was in and out of
consciousness for several days with a concussion. But an
angel was watching over him and preserved his life.
Our youngest son was with our oldest
son in an auto accident. A 15 year old boy was driving the
other car, and had his grandparents and several people with
him. These people and my sons could have been killed, but no
one was injured. Again I believe an angel was watching over
them. They were both spared. Our youngest son had a bruised
elbow. He was also in an accident with his grandmother which
totaled her car and neither of them was injured, except for
bruises.
In another incident, our youngest son
was coming home for the weekend from college. He had three
other students with him and he swerved to miss another car
which was trying to pass illegally on an icy road. He lost
control on the ice and flipped the car. No one was injured.
Just the car was a wreck.
Our oldest daughter was hit by a pickup
truck while driving her car, and was propelled into the lane
of oncoming traffic. The driver of the pickup lost control
on a rain slick pavement. She wound up wrapped around a
pillar of one of the overpasses and it took two hours to cut
her out of her car. She escaped with only superficial cuts
and bruises. Yes, it was an angel who was protecting her.
Our youngest daughter was a passenger
in a car when it was broad sided on the passenger side. She
had a slight concussion and a banged up eye which looked
like she had a golf ball in place of her eye, but it was
purple and black and blue instead of white. There again, I
firmly believe there was an angel watching over her.
All my life, I have had the hand of God
on me, protecting me from certain disasters. I knowthat now
that I am older and look back in reflection. There have
been many times in my growing up years I could have had
disasters befall me. But God or one of His angels was there
to protect me.
God has something planned for each of
us and He does protect us. But after awhile, if we keep
rebelling against Him, our protection runs out. If we live
for Him and try to stay in His will, we will be protected
until He wants us to come to live with Him in Heaven.
