A Letter from President Angelo Lilla
As president of the Student Government Association (SGA) and more importantly on behalf of all current students, I welcome you to Montclair State University. At Montclair you will receive a great education that will lead you far in life. Though school work is the number one priority, the Student Government would like to remind you that it shouldn??™t be the only aspect of college life.
The SGA is a parent organization for over 100 clubs, including fraternities, sororities, social fellowships, cultural groups, religious groups, media groups, programming groups, and much more. We are happy to represent over 12,000 undergraduate students and are excited to begin working with you every way we can.
What exactly does the SGA do? The SGA represents the students of Montclair State University. We work closely with administration, deans, faculty and staff to stand for student needs. We are the students??™ voice on this campus and we are best heard through your involvement! We address parking issues, residence concerns, commuter needs, and anything YOU feel is important!
At your previous school, you may not have had some of the same clubs and organizations as we do here at MSU. Now is the time to enjoy all the activities that will allow you to fully experience college life. This is the time to get active! Become part of either the SGA or one of its chartered organizations. If you feel your needs are not being represented; come to the SGA and we will help you start your own club!
Now I know joining an organization isn??™t everyone??™s thing to do. This is why the SGA also supplies many free or discounted services for students. Want to go on a date to the local AMC Movie Theater? Come to the SGA office for $5.00 movie tickets. And just to be safe, the SGA also gives out free condoms! Among other things, we have an SGA discount card to local food, auto and beauty shops; we also provide a free notary service, 5 cent copies (cheapest on campus), a free fax machine to use and stamps ??“ all located in the SGA office.
It is very important to us that the SGA meets the needs of the student body. Please stop by room 103 of the Student Center Annex if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions about us, or any of the organizations on campus. Or if you just want to pop in and say hello, my door is always open. Remember, now is the time to enjoy college life; so get active and have fun!
Best Wishes,
Angelo Lilla
SGA President
