How To Make Your Life Easier

One of the keys to a more youthful existence is by living a life with more ease.  Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary defines ease as "freedom from labor or difficulty "and "the state of being comfortable".  However you personally define ease, one thing is for certain, most people find it difficult to create more of it in their lives.

2008 started with the drop of a ball in Times Square.  Since that time we have seen, multiple tornadoes, massive flooding, continued fatalities in Iraq, sky-rocketing gas prices, ultra high food prices, and record foreclosures.  Whew!  You may be asking yourself how can anyone possibly live with greater ease?  Living with ease is not simple, but it can be accomplished.  Here's how:

1.  Believe in yourself

Try a little self-confidence.  When you believe in yourself, almost anything seems possible and easier. A solution to your financial woes or romantic troubles become easier to figure out when you know that you have the ability within yourself to handle them .

2.  Believe in a higher power

Whether it Allah, Buddha, God or the Universe, belief in a power greater than yourself has been shown to increase ease in our lives.  The 2000 Social Capital Community Benchmark Survey showed that religious people, regardless of their faith, were likelier than secular people to say they were happy.  Other research shows that spiritual Americans tend to abuse drugs and alcohol less and have a significantly lower suicide rate.  The bottom line is that spirituality can make you happier and fill your life with ease.

3.  Cultivate Healthy Relationships

Life is more comfortable when you have a support system.  Surround yourself with people who love and believe in you.  Spend time with friends and relative who will be with you in good and bad times.  Avoid, if you can, both business and personal relationships with individuals who belitttle, betray, or otherwise try to sabotage your life. In order to create these types of relationships, consider how you treat others.  Strive not only to treat others the way you want to be treated but, treat them better.

4.  Dare to Dream

In her book, Doing Less And Having More, Marcia Wieder says this about dreams, "If you create a dream or a goal that you are more committed to than your reality-which includes your worries and doubts-and if you do something to move your dream forward every day or even weekly, you will transform your life."  As adults we are often told if you want to live a better life to stop "chasing dreams" and get back to reality.  Oddly enough, the opposite is true.  Chasing or pursuing a dream can fill our lives with passion and purpose.  Taking steps to make a dream come true often gives us that reason to greet everyday with a smile.  Dare to create more ease in your life, dare to dream.

It's true, life is never easy but, by taking the steps to make it more comfortable and less difficult, you will find yourself living a more energetic and vibrant existence.
