Another Veteran
Bill Walker
wildbill6807@yahoo.com

I have wrote about Veterans of wars, I have wrote
about a wife of a man killed in war, making her a
Veteran.  I have been thinking, there is other
Veterans also. The things that happen on the
battlefield do have effect on the home folk also.
That would be the Mothers. the Fathers, the Wives, the
Children even.   Those too could be all classed as
Veterans.  Veterans of nightmares

Let me give you a case in point.  I received this from
a lady.  This Courthouse she speaks of is in the town
of
Hillsboro, Missouri.

Bill, I knew the parents of a man who was on a ship
that went down at
Pearl Harbor. His name was Earl Hoard. His mother
never recovered
from her nightmares trying to swim out in a firey sea
to look for her
son that never was found.  We have his name on a wall
here in my
town at the county Court house.

This mother was a Veteran as sure as anything.  How
would you like that dream, night after night?  Talk
about a flash back, to have a never ending nightmare.

We can have names in graved on the walls, have markers
with the names of those that never came home on the
Courthouse lawns.  But there is other Veterans that
goes unnamed.  The Wives, the Mothers., the Fathers,
even the Children who have these nightmares.   These
lives forever torn apart by wars. These all are
Veterans also,  each in their own way.

You can have all sorts of markers, monuments put up.
At the Courthouse, even
Washington D.C. It don't
really stop the nightmares. Not for the Veteran group
made up by, Mothers, Fathers, Wives, and yes even
Children .

It is easy for the leaders to come and say words, and
put some flowers on a marker.  Go back to the home or
office, and forget. Live their lives of good times,
not so for the Mother, Father, Wife, and the Children.
Those have the nightmares, also the thoughts of what
might have been, had there been no war.

I remember reading in history about a couple men
making a speech at a place we now know as
Gettysburg.
One was a long winded speech.  The other was a short
one.  The short one is remembered. and  But when one
gets to the point, what does all the fine words, and
the fine flowers and so on mean to a Mother, Father,
Wife, and even Children?  Very little, their loved one
is not here to hear the fine words, see and smell the
flowers.. So is not the Mother, the Father, the Wife,
the Children also not a Veteran?

Someone says this every so often. "War is Hell."   Yes
it sure is, it also is hell for those at home.  The
Wife, the Mother, the Father, and the Children.

 So, here goes some

"Preaching, for Free"

And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Ph. 2:10-11

And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. Re. 6:4

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. He. 4:12

And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see.  And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. Re. 6:5

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.  Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Lu.
16:13

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. Re. 6:8

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Ro. 8:34-35

He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. Jn. 3:33

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held. Re. 6:9

I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. Ec. 3:18

Tennessee

By Janice Tomerlin-Finley

finleyj@otelco.net

We have the pyramid, Mud Island, and Dolly Wood.
We have the blues, home of Elvis, and big bands

We specialize in home cooked meals and barbecue
If you've never been to Tennessee please come through

Our Mississippi river keeps rolling along
While the sax museum is recording a song

Martin Luther King died in Tennessee
He marched the streets so we could be free

Alex Haley was born in Henning a small town in Tennessee
Dolly Pardon, Johnny Cash, Isaac Hayes wrote songs just for me

The Tennessee job market is not so great
But I bet you can't find a better state.

 I Made A Promise

Linda Ann Henry

I made a promise

Not so long ago

To someone I love

Who dearly cared

I made a promise

Wherever I go

I will make it

In the life I know

I made a promise

And God answered my prayer

I promised someone,

I would make it through the years

I made a promise

With tears I tried to hide

That like a breath of wind

I will fly as if I am a butterfly

I made a promise

To the leaves in the trees

To touch the stars and the ocean breeze

Smell the flowers and the earth

I promise to make it

So our two hearts will see

All the things in eternity

Beyond Tomorrow

Linda Ann Henry

Beyond tomorrow I will live

As each day I will forever see

The beauty of God's world

Always close to me

Jesus knows all that will happen

He walks and talks with me

And shows me what to do

There may be tears

In all the years

But there is hope that I see through

As long as I have Jesus

As my dearest friend

Eternity can never end

The flowers and the butterflies

Will stay with me just as they are

In all these years that I hold dear

My life will always mend

Beyond tomorrow is more wonder

A golden touch of love

A gift that we are given

By the Son of God above

I will see a rainbow in the heavens

Run until I see my Jesus' face

If I pass along

Until I reach the sun

The earth may stand still

But I will be in my place

No one knows what's on the other side

Beyond the twinkling of the stars

I will be held by the King

Whatever happens that I do not know

There is one sure thing

Beyond tomorrow, I will smile

For I know, Jesus will keep me

All the while

In my heart I will sing

Readers Feedback

Charles B. Ainsley  - WOW! What a throwback to times when things were wonderful and sincere
between people.
Thanks

Paula,

I don't know if it'll help, or maybe you already did this, but you could try to locate your classmates through the internet. There is this pop-up ad that comes up advertising helping find classmates sometimes. You could possibly use that to find your friends. I don't know if it would cost anything, it's just a suggestion. I hope everything goes well, and I will pray that it does. Good luck and God bless! ~Maria
