Storytime Tapestry Newsletter The newsletter devoted to spreading love and cultural
awareness throughout the world. Special Treat – Norma Liles *My Castle on the Hill* Norma Liles If you have read my message about my restructuring my
life, actually where I live, you will note that I have some of this, some of
that and a lot of nonsense? I was looking at this glass tumbler that I was drinking
water from and I thought: "hmmmmmm. Wonder what this glass has held
overtime? Possibly iced tea, a soda, an alcohoic beverage and then there
is this pretty blue imitation Alladin's lamp that graces my little kitchen
table (which for your information, sits in the living room)and I wonder what
rooms it has lighted, whether it has matched the decor as I have found it to do
and then we have the ice cream type table (kitchen table)that I inherited from
my grandaughter (reverse procedure?)and I know that it has seen a lot of
different homes and apartments and I wonder how many times her kitty kat has
sat on top even though it was not to and then my eyes wonder to my lovely couch
(used but oh so pretty). It was a huge bargain and is long; upholstery is
great, has throw pillows to match but (don't broadcast this but the legs are
held in place with gorilla glue~sh) and then my portable NEW 27" tv(two
yrs old)graces the top of a bargained maple table purchased for 2 bucks; steal?
I cannot ignore my old fashioned end tables; so out-of-date but much to my
liking who when I took up being independent, once again, my daughter (out of
the goodness of her heart)stripped them from her sun porch. I cannot
ignore my bookcase which I purchased from my OWN POCKET which is
so tall that everything else in the room is dwarfed but it is my dream
come true; since I am a collector and a reader of BOOKS. Try as I might,
I cannot ignore my computer table. It has served as my place to eat, pay my
bills, write my letters, store my upcoming statements, stamps. I know you
get the idea; a complete mess? Yep, that's me! My walls are adorned
with pictures from here there and yon; partially homes beautiful, cheap
prints, one of lighthouses; gift from my dtr/son-in-law and my precious
Angel picture behind my tv plus a gold embellished framed Angels Unaware by
Cora Felman; a gift from a niece and I must not overlook my yard sale mirror
over the couch which WAS bordered with white latice type frame but has
been restored to a tan to match the dots on the couch and my NEW
recliner. I just had to have a pink verogatted swag to adorn the
mirror? Oh yes, here is the pretty tan hat with the pink flowers that
adorn the wall over my snack bar and is complimented with a framed pink
floral print. As I have said before, I may not be your up-to-the-minute
decorator but guess what? This is "My castle on the hill"
and I invite you to come sit on my bar stool and as you do, please remove
the pot of flowers which hold the stool together which incidently came from the
trash of a long gone tenant.....oh well, I warned you, didn't I? p.s.
Don't forget about my lovely trash born coffee table? Right! NormaLee Liles © Norma Liles is a retired
