The lowly lobster gets the biggest tribute at this premier event. Come to the Lobster Capital of the World for five days of fantastic seafood and world-class entertainment!

Started in 1949, the Shediac Lobster Festival draws visitors from all over the world to feast on succulent lobster and soak up Acadian and Maritime culture.

Ride the midway, join in the kids' parade and don't miss the daily performances by some of the best musicians around.

And what would a lobster festival be without a lobster-eating contest? Every night, three lucky volunteers are chosen from the crowd. Their challenge? To break down and eat three lobsters with their bare hands as fast as they can. Come and try your luck at the annual Shediac Lobster Festival... fun for all ages.

Labrador Straits Bakeapple Folk Festival, Forteau, Canada

10 Aug 2006 - 13 Aug 2006

Berry picking is a favourite summer pastime in the Labrador Straits and the bakeapple, or cloudberry, is the most famous of all berries. So much so, it lends its name to the Bakeapple Folk Festival, the high point of the social season hereabouts. A celebration of local heritage with folk singing, dancing, music, games, crafts, food, and entertainment, the festival also holds out the promise of local specialities and the bountiful harvest of the northern bakeapple.
