Subject: Famous People Column - An open column for all writers - January15, 2007

In honour of the Martin Luther King Day, January 15, 2007 Cynthia Groopman has written this poem.

Remembering Dr. King

Cynthia Groopman

    As I remember Dr. King,

I raise my voice and begin to sing.

My heart dances with such joy,

For in his life, prejudice, hatred, war and anger, he did destroy.

A man of such rainbow dreams,

Taught us to overcome and persevere as we face challenging themes.

A man of valor, indeed was he.

As he fought for brotherhood and equality.

His victory was not won by war,

But by peace, prayers and teaching all to respect and adore.

His speeches were those of motivational inspiration,

Bringing forth the triumph of victorious elation.

When he was shot and subsequently died,

Hearts wept and all cried.

A tribute will be to practice hat he did preach,

As we are instructed to forge ahead and teach.
