Storytime Tapestry Newsletter The newsletter devoted to spreading love and cultural
awareness throughout the world. Special Treat – Barbra
Lambert I am happy to announce another new
writer for Storytime Tapestry. Barbra
Lambert becomes writer # 398. Please email her and welcome her to the fold “Unseemly
Competitor” (True Story for Horse Lovers) Barbra
Lambert An ebony
beauty. . . bulleted out of his coral to show us the brilliance of his show
performance. He was indeed a show horse! We were fervently amazed at the speed
at which he confidently ran past our untrained eyes. His flowing black mane
dazzled us even more!!! We gave
horrendous cheers and applauds for several minutes to this reverential beauty
for putting on such showmanship for amateur horse observers, save one. The
owner of the horse. Astounded as we were, he further enlightened us about his
bravado, when his performance came to a screeching halt right near our feet. We
made over him to such a degree that he didn’t seem to know whether to stay and
revel in the glory or bullet away. But an unseemly competitor from inside the
barn quickly challenged ‘his’ show and gave the horse quick reason to make his
decision! An humble
pig had thudded into the coral. His short little legs pummeled the ground so
loudly, we couldn’t help but look to see where the sound was coming from. The
ebony beauty caught the sound of dull heavy thuds, also. Round and round the
pig went. . . as fast as his four little legs could go, with us cheering him on
just as we had done the horse. He was determined to show us (or himself) that
he could do as the horse did. The horse didn’t think so. What an
insult!!!!!! Here this
humble creature was having the time of his life and all of a sudden this
striking beauty decides to run him out of the coral. And that’s exactly what he
did. As he pursued the pig and caught up with him, he butted him out of the
coral with his nose, raced back to us to let us know (I suppose) that HE was
the spotlight. . . Not the pig. The pig willfully obeyed the horse; his place
was in the barn. We were
immensely entertained by this. Nonetheless, admiring the pig for showing such
courage. It is a great memory for my sister, brother, niece, cousins and
friends and the owner of the horse. What better way to spend an afternoon with
family! Barbra
