Storytime Tapestry Newsletter The newsletter devoted to
spreading love and cultural awareness around the world. All About Dreams – A
Martha Jette Column Martha Jette, friend and author will now be taking over
the dreams column formerly presented by Parthena Black of Bella Online. Many of you know Martha and will agree that
her columns are always fresh and exciting.
Martha explains the unexplainable with style and grace. In Your Dreams, Pain May Be Real Attempting to unravel and analyze our dreams is a
fascinating venture. If you’d like to be more successful at interpreting your
dreams, the first step is to keep a notepad and pen or pencil beside your bed.
Upon awakening, when your dream is clear in your mind jot down everything you
can remember. This is very important, because once your mind begins to focus on
the day at hand, your dream will slip more and more out of your consciousness. Once in a while, we have dreams that seem particularly
real – especially if they involve pain. Any dream featuring pain may indicate a
very real problem. For instance, I often dream about having difficulty walking
due to pain in my hips and legs. I know that these dreams are simply reflecting
the actual pain I feel during sleep, as I have osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and
spinal stenosis. If you have frequent dreams of being in pain, it might be
prudent to visit your doctor. Here are some more dream symbols and their interpretations
associated this time, with parts of the body: A)
Loosing Teeth: I’ve had this dream many
times. Apparently, it means the dreamer fears losing his or her youth or
vitality. (I think in my case, it’s the later!) B)
Skin: Dreaming of smooth, healthy skin
indicates an unrealistic yearning for self-perfection. On the other hand, if
you dream of scarred or blemished skin, you may be feeling personally
inadequate. C)
Nose: If you dream of someone with a big
nose, it indicates that you must “follow your nose” and trust your instincts.
You might have guessed the Freud considered the nose a phallic symbol and dreaming
of one, a signal that you have not been honest when it comes to sexual matters. D)
Ears: Dreaming of ears may indicate you’re
ready to listen and gain new insights. They may also represent the need to
listen better to those around you. E)
Face: If you see your own face, it indicates
a need to see yourself as you really are. Seeing a number of faces signifies a
need to focus on those who really matter to you. F)
Eyes: These are “the window to the soul” and
as such reflect our spiritual or psychological well-being. Bright, alert eyes
indicate clear thinking and purpose in life. Dull or closed eyes suggest
feelings of anxiety, emotional blockage or a lack of communication. G)
Mouth: Here we go with Freud again, who
associated the mouth with the vagina and an oral fixation related to
breastfeeding. Dreaming about a mouth may indicate impulsive tendencies and a
desire for instant gratification. An open mouth might indicate your fear of
being “swallowed up.” H)
Hands: Washing one’s hands indicates a desire
to shed responsibility for something. If the hand you see is placed on
someone’s head, it symbolizes the sign of blessing or a latent desire to
dominate someone else. I)
Fingernails: If you dream that someone with
long fingernails is scratching at the face of someone else, it indicates a
desire to scratch below the surface to get at the true person. J)
Arms: Raised arms represent authority and the
threat of impending punishment. Outstretched arms indicate a need to protect or
be protected, while dreaming of having someone’s arms around you represents
your own need to be consoled. K)
Legs: If you see legs walking in your dream,
it indicates a desire to move forward in your relationship, career or other
matter. If running, this means it might be time to leave a particular
situation. It could also mean you wish to run from a situation rather than face
it. L)
Stomach: If you dream that you or someone
else’s stomach appears pregnant, it denotes a wish to return to the security of
the womb. It can also simply reflect your own maternal desires. M)
Breasts: Dreams about breasts relate to your
own emotional insecurities or inadequate nurturing. Surprisingly, dreaming
about breasts can also symbolize a need for spiritual regeneration. N)
Buttocks: Large buttocks may simply express
frustrated sexual desires. O)
Nakedness: This type of dream can mean a
variety of things, from a desire for the innocence of Adam and Eve in the
Garden of Eden, to latent exhibitionism or simply a desire for sex. Naturally,
Freud went much further on this topic, but I really don’t think it’s necessary
to go into that! However, if you dream that you are nude and no one seems to
even notice, it indicates that you don’t care what others think of you. On the
other hand, if you see others who are nude and show no interest, it suggests
that you readily accept others just as they are. P.S. - If you take my advice only 1 time this year, take http://www.intensivegiveaway.com/thank-you.php?id=3813 Martha Jette, Editor & Author Please take the time to visit my site! http://www.freewebs.com/paranormalbooks |
