The Day Of Tears

Bill Walker

missourisage@yahoo.com

I have wrote before about this great wrong. I think what I am on a hoot about, needs all political hacks, both parties, and all the do goodies to do some real sharp thinking before they come up with any more of their dumb screw ball ideas.

Here in this town of Beatrice, Nebraska  is a state home.  The name changes from time to time to fit the political way of saying people with a small mental problem.

Let me take you back many years.  In the 30s and 40s the place was over grown with a vast number. People in all classes of mental sickness. Now this place had what is called farms, and also a herd of milk cows.  The farms grew the crops for the cows, also, there was gardens.  These gardens was tended by some of the people that was housed there.  Each had a few rows to tend. These rows became a joy to each one.  Look at how good my rows are cared for, there is not a weed no where. My rows are so clean. There was no one being forced to work, no one out there with a whip, driving and making them doing the care of the rows.  It gave each something to do.

Then the do goodies came hopping down the bunny trail.  This was a crime, making these people do this, so that little pride and joy was stopped. No longer did these people have something to do.  Now they can set in a chair and look out a window, and watch the world go by,  they have nothing to do.

The same do goodies seen the cows. We got to get rid of the cows.

These cows, the most beautiful cows you ever seen. Slick, brushed and combed each and every day. Loved by one person.  That one person almost would sleep with that cow, that was hers.  Bessy didn't feel good today, Bessy got extra care if that was possible.  Bessy didn't get better by second day, Bessy needs a vet, and now, That my Bessy.  That person was pounding on someones head, Bessy sick, you hear???

The day came, the cows was sold, One cow sold, another went to the state prison system.  The kids as we called them stood, watched and bawled like babies at the sight and sounds as each cow was sold.  The day the tears flowed like Niagara Falls.  Every last one went to bed that night, the tears still flowing. This went on for days, you see they had lost something they loved. You may not understand being how you may have never known true love to start with. That is you Mr. and Mrs. Do Goodies.  Mr. and Mrs. Political Hack.  These people are humans, they had a love of doing something. It was and gave them something to be with. A duty if you will, something that needed them. In the case of the cows.  A live breathing being that depended on them to care for it. That cow, oh how that cow was loved. Why that was Bessy.  And you took my Bessy away, I will never see Bessy again.  I hope who ever took my Bessy gives her good care. She was all I had in this world to live for. I just as well go die, I have nothing to live for now. The Day Of Tears.

The Tapestry Of Remembrance
Cynthia Groopman

Oh, nostalgic tapestry of remembrance,
My hearts yearns to be embraced by yesteryear's radiance.
Looking at pictures of loved ones taken long ago,
Kindles a sadness flame that causes tears to flow.
As I look at each smiling face,
I long for soft caresses and a warm family embrace,
Within me is the childhood memories so vivid and clear,
Evoking thoughts pleasant and dear.
For tapestry's remembrance is like the sunshine of sparkling gold,
Into the open arms of eternal love, I shall be forever enfolded.

Nature's Laughter
Cynthia Groopman

Oh, my heart dances rhythmically and rejoices,
As I listen to nature's laughter,
With such elation, nature laughs joyfully,
As the stars twinkle radiantly.
The cheerful tune of nature's hearty laugh,
Merrily swirls round and round,
And the lively wind chimes in a jocund sound.
As the ocean waves tap dance,
With such majestic fervor, luster and zest,
As melodically chirping birds are laughing as flowers,
Are fragrantly clad in their springtime best.
Exotic creatures come from far and wide,
And in their unique way,
Jubilant laughter in their voices reside.
Oh, nature, your laughter is truly exquisite and full of charm,
That is so breathtaking,
And to me, this feat is truly astounding, awesome and truly earthshaking.

Photographs
Cynthia Groopman

A photograph depicts a story of a thousand loving words,
As I look at each dear one, warm caring voices are heard.
These voices are of long ago,
nevertheless possessing a radiant golden glow.
Their messages express solace and comfort to me,
Singing affectionate eternal melodies.
For as I touch each person, my heart feels a certain splendor,
As I am kissed with blessings of memories flower,
So majestically beautiful and tender.

A Sleepless Night
Cynthia Groopman

Restlessly tossing and incessantly turning all night long,
I was entertained by the sound of the melody
of the wise old owl's nocturnal song.
The brightly twinkling stars were tenderly embracing each other
as they adorned the clear
midnight sky,
when an occasional cottonesque little cloud was slowly floating by.
The birds were merrily chirping and singing,
As the bells of slumber were softly ringing.
The moon was laughing gleefully,
As the leaves were rustling rhythmically.
The whistling wind was pitter-pattering,
incessantly pounding upon my door,
As the tiny foamy jocund waves
sprightly danced upon the seashore.
For nature's show was truly amazing, as you can see,
but sleep would not arrive and I yearned for peaceful tranquility.
I lie in bed counting sheep,
And Mother Nature magically eased me to sleep.
