ENOUGH IS ENOUGH STOP SEXUAL PREDATORS NOW!!!

I addressed and sent a copy of this urgent matter to Congressman Cardoza, Senator Boxer, Senator Finestein, President Bush, and Oprah Winfrey. I also sent this to anybody else I could reach by E-mail.

Oprah Winfrey is right!  Enough is enough!  We have watched one child after another make the headlines.  We have seen how each child was captured, raped, tortured, or killed by a repeat sexual offender.  Yes, we were horrified-but we did nothing!  Why?  I don’t think we connected the dots the way Oprah has on her show.  I and millions of regular citizens, who vote, have connected the dots, and the picture being drawn is very troubling.  What makes it so bad is that we’ve known about this problem for years and years, and have done virtually nothing!  I know, some politicians will protest by saying, “Of course we’ve done something!  State laws are getting tougher.  National laws are getting tougher.  Why, we even have tracking devices and registries.”  Let’s address these concerns.  Yes, individual state laws are getting harsher.  So, what does a sexual predator do?  Simple!  Move to another state!  That’s why simply leaving it up to the states just doesn’t work.  These deviants are smart enough to move somewhere else where their record of offenses in other states simply does not follow them across state lines.  Isn’t registering them and tracking them enough?  No!  According to the research Oprah Winfrey did, some 500,000 predators are running around loose.

 While it is true that 400,000 are in compliance and are registered and tracked, some 100,000 have simply vanished!  Nobody knows where they are or what they might do!  Worse yet, when an offender is arrested in another state, then that state has no idea what he or she may have done in another state!  What about giving them a chance to pay their debt to society and then move on?  It’s not about whether or not they’ve paid their debt.  It’s about whether or not they are safe when released!  Some of these creeps have rap sheets pages and pages long covering decades of offenses against women and children!  Some of these creeps get out on bail or on parole and victimize somebody else!  Then, when they run across state borders, they get to start fresh and brand new, and that new state has no idea of this pervert’s history!  I for one, along with millions of others are tired of the excuses!  I don’t want to hear more rhetoric about how “We’re working on it,” or “That’s a serious problem, and thank you for your concerns.”  You who sit in places of power have had decades to fix this problem!  You haven’t.  So, what exactly will make us happy?  Simple!  One strike and you’re out!  Any sexual crime against a minor by an adult gets life with no possibility of parole!  No plea bargains!  No paroles!  No time off for good behavior!  We don’t hold wild animals responsible for the injuries and deaths they cause.  However, even they are locked up where they can do no harm.  Should we do any less to protect our vulnerable citizens from sexual predators?  We demand that you hold hearings now!  We demand that you pass a one strike federal law this session!  Enough grieving parents on the evening news!  Enough bodies found in dumpsters or shallow graves or fishponds!  Enough excuses as to why it can’t or shouldn’t be done!  Get it done and do it now!
