Today’s Announcements
Hello
Friends
Rocky and Helen would just like to tell all of
Hart's friends that today Hart was admitted to the Fraser Canyon Hospital (Hope). He
has had an ongoing problem with his leg. It just will not heal, instead it has
become increasingly worse. The doctor will put him on antibiotics again, to try
to bring down the swelling. For the past few months Hart has been restricted to
a wheelchair. But Hart has never been one to complain, so didn't want to give
in--but at last he has had to. He went by ambulance this morning. Helen
accompanied him. Rocky could not. Rocky was very sad to see Helen come in
the door this evening, without HIS HART! But Helen will take him
with me tomorrow to see Hart in the hospital. Hart will be in the Hope hospital
for one week, and then he will be transported by ambulance to the Vancouver General next
Wednesday, where he will be seen by a team of specialists. Rocky and I (Helen)
will keep you posted on what happens.
Rocky and Helen are making a special request that you restrict
your emails to Hart until further notice, as we will be spending a lot of time
at the hospital and won't have too much computer time. We both thank you in
advance for your kindness to our HART. We would request that you pray for
him. Thanks so much.
Rocky also says:

Hello Friends
I did!!
This morning I just wouldn't let Helen out of my
site. I knew she was going to the hospital, but she left the house without me.
"Why?" I cried. But Evelyn (Helen's sister-my aunt) explained to
me that Helen would be right back. Our car is broken down, so she went over to
our good friend and neighbour to borrow her car. She was gone far too long, as
far as I was concerned.... But at last she walked in the front door and picked
up the bags and headed for the car. What a relief. I just HAD to find out for
sure that my Hart had not left me for good.......How excited I was when Helen
took me into the hospital and down the hall to Hart's room. He is in a room by
himself, so I could get right up on the bed with him. All the nurses at the
hospital know me real well, as I have been at the hospital many times in the
past.... I jumped up on Hart's bed and gave a BIG sigh. Now I know for sure
that Helen was telling the truth. Hart really IS in the hospital. .... Last
night I couldn't even eat my milk biscuits that Helen puts on my bed every
night, for a treat. I was just too upset because Hart was not in bed with
Helen.....Now tonight I am going to have a good sleep because I heard Helen
telling Evelyn that she was going to take me again tomorrow, earlier than
today....Okay, so you want to know how Hart is. .... He was
not too cheerful today--except when he greeted me. He is in a lot of pain. He
can't get out of bed without help. Today they gave him some blood and some
other stuff that looked like plain water. It came down a tube and into his arm.
He hasn't been eating too much lately, but when he offered me his food, I
didn't like it either.
Helen said not to forget to thank all of you who
wrote a response to our letter yesterday, sending your greetings to Hart.
Helen says it is okay for anyone to write her at her address: hmdowd@telus.net, but not to send things to
Hart's email hsdowd@telus.net. Helen has
to go over to Hart's computer to clear off the eamils, and she is very tired.
But please don't think that she isn't appreciative of your emails. Just send
them to her address and not to Hart's.
I thank you kindly for remembering to pray for HART.
Thanks so much.

Out
of the Chrysalis - The Meaning of Love
Out of the Chrysalis
- Where caterpillars find their
wings
Maria Stepek Doherty
mariadoherty@blueyonder.co.uk
I read and watched something this morning that moved
me so deeply that I had to reach out and share it with all of you. I warn
you in advance that it does not make easy reading or watching. Yet I found
it so filled with the affirmation of life, love and the resilience of the
human spirit that I came away feeling empowered and in a curious way,
joyful. It is because of that powerful response that I urge you to take the
risk. Pain is often accompanied by strange gifts of love and light, if we
would just lift our heads and hearts from the ground for a fleeting moment.
We
cannot avoid pain. It is a legacy of love. Were we not to have the treasure
of love in our lives, there would be an eternal flatness, a vast empty
featureless plain with no mountains in sight, no rolling hills, no rivers
…. Just an endless horizon filled with nothingness. It is hard to let go of
our loved ones, harder still to watch them suffer, but the alternative of a
life barren of love is far worse. The reality of life is that loss comes
with the giving of our hearts. Even those of us who have an absolute
knowing of the continuity of the spirit beyond the physical death of the
body, are filled with grief because we can no longer hold or be held by
those who are gone.
Yet,
none of us would entertain for a moment the choice of evading our pain
through never having known our loved ones. Never to have loved is to dwell
in that flat, featureless plain of being, devoid of the life blood of the
heart and soul. Never to have loved is to live a life devoid of the true
meaning of grace.
Viktor
Frankl, a great soul, a man who survived the loss of wife and family in the
Nazi death camps with a spirit burning so bright, it illuminates all of us,
sums up what you will see in this video and read in this article.
"We
who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through
the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may
have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything
can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose
one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."
Viktor
Frankl - Man’s Search for Meaning
These
parents humble me. Their love moves me beyond my ability to express my
feeling in mere words. They move my soul and elevate my spirit. Their
tragedy hurts me but the power of the attitude they have chosen makes my
heart sing. They chose to risk the pain of loss for the gift of love. They
are all that is best in humanity.

Springtime
Sparkle,
Cynthia Groopman
Springtime
possesses a sparkle
so lovely and
bright,
Embracing us by
her gentle radiant sunlight.
As fresh as the
morning dew,
Springtime sparkle
softly caresses the sky so vast and blue.
Warm and full of
relaxation,
Springtime
sparkle adorns our hearts in rejoicing celebration.
As each little
bird lifts its voice to God above,
In each mirthful
chant is expressed the majesty of God's eternal love.

Dancing Raindrops
Cynthia Groopman
Pitter patter the raindrops dance,
they swirl round and round in an elated prance.
Like merrily dancing feet,
the raindrops tiptoe to a happy rhythmic beat.
In circles they play,
being energetic during the night and day.
For they dance at the gala ball,
with an amusing sound, they entertain all.

Protected In The Arms Of God
Cynthia Groopman
On a beautifully charming springtime night,
An accident occurred that brought with it rubble and blight.
A century old wall,
Crumbled, collapsed and finally did fall.
Like a tower thirty feet high,
The pile of rubble was an awful sight to the eye.
Police, rescue units and city officials did rush onto the scene,
As all diligently worked as a team.
Hustling and bustling in such great haste,
The noxious aftermath of destruction, they did taste.
Modern equipment and marvels of technology they did utilize,
And much to their happiness and great surprise,
They discovered that underneath the rubble, no injured or dead, were found,
And that was a miracle so deep and profound.
For, God's protection caused no harm,
As all were sheltered beneath His Divine arm.

The Heart And Soul Of My Life
Cynthia Groopman
Have I ever told you, my dear Lord,
That you are the heart and soul of my life.
Well, with words sparkling like the morning springtime dew,
I pay homage in loving gratitude to you.
For into my life, you have entered with smiles and joy,
And all of my saddest regrets of guilt, you did destroy.
Like a shepherd,
You have lovingly lead me to rejoin your congregational fold,
Where I am inspired by your Biblical words,
That are the greatest stories ever told.
When I sing hymns of rejoicing praise,
I feel blessed in many optimistic ways.
For of my life, dear Lord, you are my heart and my soul,
As you have given me a rainbow of promises
And hope to fulfill my dreams and to attain every desired goal.
Thus, you are my priceless treasure,
And in your holiness, you give me deep spiritual pleasure.
