Storytime Tapestry Update:
Thanks to
all of you who have been voting daily for (Helen's) website.
Dear
Friends
Helen tells me that she is very
tired tonight. She doesn't want me to give you a long report for today. There
should be more news tomorrow, as our family doctor is going to let us know when
the operation will be on Wednesday, and give us what ever details the surgeons
have on what is going to happen....Today, as I was sleeping on Hart's bed, I
heard Helen and Hart talking to their visitors, my Aunt Marianne and Uncle
Louis, and some other guests, later in the day. I heard Hart saying that he had
peace about whatever was going to happen. I even heard him say that if the
doctors thought that taking his leg is best, that he has peace about that. Some
nurses have been talking to him and assured him that he is not too old to
adjust. I know he could, too, as he is just that kind of guy. I don't know what
a "positive attitude" is, but I think it is what dogs ALL have. We always think
the best. We are always looking up, trusting, not worrying about the future.
Helen told me to share a part of a
story that she got from Joecool today. It says it all. Here it
is:
We all should take a lesson or two from our puppy professors. We all should see that it is far more joyful to love unconditionally than it is to place limits on our love. The great Leo Buscaglia once said that, "When you cease placing conditions on your love you have taken a giant step toward learning to love." I would also say that when you cease placing conditions on your joy and happiness you have taken a giant step toward learning to be joyous and happy. Dogs seen to know this instinctively. They don’t wait for conditions to be right before they wag their tails and give you their love. They don’t wait for good news to play and have fun. They don’t wait for the perfect moment to be happy. They instead revel in each and every moment that they are given. Don’t be afraid to take a dog’s advice then. Don’t be afraid to enjoy a sunny day or play in the grass. Don’t be afraid to forgive easily and completely. Don’t be afraid to find joy and happiness in the present moment. Don’t be afraid to give love expecting nothing in return. I think that the reason so many of us love dogs is the same reason that God gave us dogs in the first place: they show us how to love and how to live. May all of us live as joyfully and as lovingly as a playful puppy. And with this good advice, I shall end my report. Good night.
