Today’s Announcements

In memory of the very sad college shootings in Virgina, Cynthia Groopman offers a poem.  God Bless all the families of this terrible tragedy.

I am still trying to deal with this vertigo and I am not improving.  I happened to recall that this situation appeared last Thursday after having seen my eye Dr on Tuesday because my glaucoma pressure is elevated.  I went into www.google.com ; gave the name of the new eye drop which he has put me on and this is one of the side affects so I called the eye dr and I am supposed to go off of it for now and report back to him to see if this eye drop has been the culprit. Please keep me in your prayers & I will keep you posted on the outcome.  Normie  p.s. This situation keeps me from being online very long at a time.

Dream interpretation, Martha Jette March 20, 2007

Chris Hansen

In keeping with the tradition of dream interpretation, I thought I’d have a little fun and try to interpret the dream of Martha Jette, in her column of March 20, 2007.  I am a Christian mystic, and I try to follow in the footsteps of prophets like Daniel, Joseph and John.  Well, I am certainly not in their class!  I will try to interpret this one, have a bit of fun, and, who knows?  I may come up with some insight.  Someone will have to let me know how well I did.

In Martha’s dream, she’s at a party, but she spends most of her time in the kitchen.  I’m guessing that she was married to a very wealthy man who spent quite a bit of time entertaining clients.  Martha, on the other hand, was very busy pouring herself into her children.  Martha finds a lock of brown hair on the counter.  Brown hair?  I’m guessing that Martha had a beautiful brown-haired daughter who is grown now.  Martha finds it on the counter, which means that she and the daughter had a close relationship at one time.  Now, Martha tries to tie the lock of hair, but the bands keep breaking.  This indicates that the relationship is a strained one.  However, there is hope.  Martha does successfully tie up the hair in a plastic bag.  This means that the relationship will soon show signs of becoming closer once again.

Check out my book, “Revelation Revisited.”  In this book, I went slowly through the bizarre dreams that Saint John had and did my best to interpret his visions of the end of the world.

I also wrote a book on the Psalms, “Secret of the Psalms,” in which I interpret the beautiful poetry in the Psalms of Israel.  I showed how these poems had an uncanny fulfillment in the life of the prophet, Jesus.

My most recent book, “Grandfather’s Journal,” doesn’t deal with dream interpretation, but it does give a glimpse into the working of my inner mind.  I wrote a story about a young boy who was afraid to die until he discovered the sweet hope in the resurrection of Jesus.  Could this book be a psychological insight into my own fears of death?  I faced these fears when my mother died.  I found comfort in my Christian faith.  The main character in this book faces his own fears at his grandfather’s funeral and then finds comfort by reading the grandfather’s journal.  Someone may have some fun interpreting this book in light of my own psyche.

David is Getting Old

Abram Friedland

I remember reading of David

How he stood there alone in the ring

Waiting for Goliath to make his way through the crowd

Of cheering and jeering spectators

How did David feel

Alone against all the warnings

From everyone who scolded him

Telling him he couldn’t win?

Then came Goliath with his might

His superior reach and height

His bluster and spit

And his garbage can lid

Everyone tells the story

With awe in their voices

Of how David won by knock – out

In front of the conflicting crowds

But it’s an old story now

David’s descendants praised him so

But made a mess of his story

In their lust for a permanent legacy

David would cry his eyes out

If he saw what had been done in his name

He might even be frightened of the new Goliaths

With their religion and their hatred

Someone can save David’s generations

And rock to the foundations

The hatreds of nations

But he needs to be David again

Sincere, frightened, but skeptical

Of Goliath with his garbage can lid

And his coaches

Hiding in their palaces and bunkers.

 Splattered Letters

Harley Sutton
As the words on the paper try to stay composed,
While thoughts on the parchment hang together,
While the sentences run and frolic in italic fun,
And the ink dries from flowing pen and feather.

For as long as pearls of thought may be strung,
And the ink splashes form the proper letters,
I shall push words up the ladder, using every rung,
In my shallow attempt at trying to do things better!

If a cogent thought mayhap flashes by this way,
Causing a pleasant rhyme to spill across the page,
I will slowly begin to feel that I have earned my pay,
Considering my peer's approbation a proper wage.

From grandiose elocution down to stilted stutterings,
From simplicity itself to a deep and tangled phrase,
I offer to one and all mellifluous muffled mutterings,
And my most heartfelt words of piety and praise.

A Brutal Tragedy

By Cynthia Groopman

A most sorrowful and brutal tragedy befall the Virginia tech students yesterday,

Causing our nation to mourn and to be outraged in a solemn way.

With a weeping heart,

I console with the ointment of love

the families of all those who did tragically depart.

Full of extreme emotional pain,

Tears cascade from the clouds within my soul with torrents of pouring rain.

Snuffing out such precious young lives,

Never enabling them to flourish and thrive.

Is beyond my understanding and deep thought,

for thou shall not kill, we were by God  instructed and taught.

For a enraged beast had two guns in his hand,

Blazing terror, fright, and bloodshed across the campass tranquil learning land.

Please dear Lord, hear my plea,

For peace and inner serenity.

Life is so sacred, precious and dear,

All should never dwell in a land of fright and fear.

To the Lord for consolation and comfort we must turn,

So, the evil deeds we can better discern.
