Subject: Storytime Tapestry: Update on Hart - April21, 2007

Thanks to all of you who have been praying daily
for Hart and me
Dear Friends

I am sorry I have not given you an update yet today.
There has been no opportunity.  In the VGH each bed has a bedside phone, but you have to sign up for it, in order to have the use of it. I did so right away and  talked to Hart last evening and this morning. He sounded cheerful, making jokes about it and all. He was to go down for the anasthetic at 11. His surgery was scheduled for noon.

Thanks for your prayers and your patience.....We have a lot going on here at the house. Ernie and Faith are here, with their 4 grandchildren, so things are lively. The children are lovely, and delightful, not troublesome or noisy. Ernie (my brother) is modifying the house to accommodate a permanent wheelchair person. He will also work on our car, getting it up and running again.  So we have a busy household. That's good, as it keep my mind off what is happening with Hart.

Later: It is 3 pm. I just called the VGH to see how the surgery went. I didn't get to talk to the doctor, and the nurses said they couldn't give out much information. They did say that Hart was in the recovery room, and that he had had a spinal and that he was awake and would be taken back to his room soon. I asked if he would be awake enough for me to phone him later. She said yes. I asked what the doctor finally did. Did Hart have an amputation? Or did they come up with another solution? (As at one time there was that possibility). I was told (rather casually and coldly) that yes, he had had an amputation, and was waking up from his anasthesia. I was/am very upset about the seeming uncaring attitude of the staff. It was as if it were nothing major at all. After all, I was only inquiring about my husband's LEG AMPUTATION. But he DID have the amputation. And according to the nurses, he is okay. That's all the information I was given..... Sorry, I am a bit upset right now, but will calm down later.

Oh God, In Thee I'm Trusting

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direst thy paths."
Proverbs 3:5 & 6

Oh God, in Thee I'm trusting,
Trusting in Your Word.
You've promised to be near me,
To be my Shield and Guard.

I know that You will keep me
Safe, in Your strong arms.
You'll shelter and protect me
from danger, and from harm.

So as I journey onward,
With Your hand holding mine,
'Though life may bring its sorrows,
You're with me all the time.

To You I give my future.
It is not mine to know.
I'm satisfied in knowing
You're with me as I go.
