Archives at Zinester: Update on Hart, from Helen and Rocky. Storytime

I don't know how to thank you all for your loving care and prayer and concern. I always look forward to going to my email box, knowing that there will be dozens of emails from our friends. This evening when I got there, there were over 100. So please forgive me for not answering each of you back.....BUT, let me tell you this. It is because of ALL your prayers that Hart has made such a wonderful recovery.......HE IS BACK IN THE HOPE HOSPITAL....

Yesterday when the surgeon went in to Hart's room in the Vancouver General Hospital, Hart greeted him with a cheery greeting. The doctor couldn't get over how quickly Hart had recovered. He had never seen anyone bounce back from a leg amputation as quickly as Hart did. Hart told him that he had to recover that fast, as there were hundreds of people praying for him. He said, "What am I doing here in this hospital? Send me back to the small hospital. There are many others who could use my room." The doctor said he would work on it. When I phoned Hart last night, he said he was all packed up and ready to go. But this morning when I talked to the desk, they told me that things didn't happen that fast. There were papers to fill and the ambulance to contact, and had to phone the Hope hospital to see if there was a bed. And had to phone Hart's doctor in Hope to....and on and on, with the red tape............However, at 2 this afternoon I heard that the ambulance had been ordered. I phoned the Hope hospital and the desk nurse said that she would phone me when Hart arrived. I got the phone call at 4. With the hope in mind that Hart would be in HOPE, I planned an early supper.

I heard everyone talking at supper time, talking about going to Hope. Was I going to see my Hart at last? Then Helen put on my collar. The kids put on their coats. We headed for the van. I got up on Helen's lap. We headed in the familiar direction. It hit me. We were really going to the hospital. A couple of stops on the way had me puzzled. I couldn't relax. But finally I saw it--that familiar building. Then Ernie, Faith, Evelyn, Helen, Jansy, Shayanne, Jovi, and Ariel all piled out of the car and called me out. Goody! I am going to see Hart. Evelyn was holding my leash and I almost choked, trying to lead her down the hall to where I knew Hart was. I bounded on to his bed. AT LAST! I let out a big sigh and gave Hart a hug. ... The children put on a little show for Hart, which when they did it at home I joined in, barking when they clapped. But here I wasn't allowed to put in my two-cents worth. Helen reminded me that I was not allowed to bark in the hospital. .. Now it was time to say good bye to Hart, but I heard Helen say that she would be back in the morning..... Well, just try to leave without me!!! No sir! I will be there, tripping her, if she tries to sneak off without me like she did on Sunday when they all--but Evelyn--went to see him in Vancouver..... I know I will have to stay in the car a lot tomorrow, as Helen has to learn how to help Hart get around with only one leg, but I won't mind, because I know that I will get to sit on Hart's bed for awhile anyway..... Oh, I am looking forward to tomorrow.
